I’m a beauty editor, and these 10 new September launches make the perfect post-summer reset

By Josefin Forsberg

Every month, Vogue Scandinavia’s senior beauty editor, Josefin Forsberg, sifts through shelves of newness (and the occasional late-night add-to-basket) to find formulas that actually earn their keep. September’s edit is a tidy return to routine: smarter bases, repair-first haircare, and sleep-and-go skincare that makes darker mornings feel less abrupt. These are the products she's tested, loved, and reached for on repeat

1

Benefit Cosmetics

The POREfessional foundation

At a glance: A medium-coverage matte foundation that smooths texture, blurs pores, and sets like velvet. No caking, no creasing, no fuss.

My experience: This is matte makeup done right. It spreads like butter yet sets like cement, staying put through a full day of meetings without clinging to dry patches. The finish? A real-life filter that’s convincing enough to make even foundation sceptics pause.

Ideal for: Anyone flirting with the matte trend but still wants skin that looks like, well, skin.

2

Olaplex

Rich hydration mask

At a glance: A deeply restorative mask infused with the brand’s signature bond-building technology and hydrating ceramides for visibly smoother, shinier strands.

My experience: No more haystack hair. This creamy treatment left our editorial assistant with silky, camera-ready lengths that could’ve easily featured in a Pantene commercial. It’s one of those rare masks that actually does what it promises, and in mere minutes at that.

Ideal for: Frizzy autumn hair begging for mercy (and moisture).

3

BaByliss

Style Secret air curler

At a glance: A modern take on the nostalgic automatic curler, with smart airflow technology and built-in safety features to prevent tangles and burns.

My experience: I’ll admit I flinched the first time I tried it (previous experience with singed ends will do that) but this is a redemption arc for automatic curlers everywhere. It churns out glossy, soft coils in minutes, all without the slightest hint of hair casualties or chewed up ends.

Ideal for: Anyone chasing va-va-voom Victoria’s Secret hair without tired arms or hair trauma.

4

Hermès

Barénia eau de parfum intense

At a glance: A warm-yet-bright fragrance that reimagines the original Barenia through citrus and woods, capturing late-summer light in a bottle.

My experience: You’d expect an “intense” version to be, well, intense. Here, the opposite rings true. The citrus stands on its own, buoyed by supple leather and soft amber. It smells like September in Provence: golden light, crisp mornings, and the faint memory of salt air.

Ideal for: Those not quite ready to trade linen for wool.

5

MAC

Lipglazer glossy lipliner

At a glance: A slick, shiny lip liner that adds soft definition with a glossy, flexible finish.

My experience: It won’t survive your morning flat white and it won’t stop a red lip from bleeding. But it is a fabulous low-effort fix for shaping the lips when you don’t have the patience for precision. I pair it with gloss for a plump, polished finish that feels refreshingly undone.

Ideal for: Gloss girls who like their lip lines blurred.

6

Mantle

The longevity mask

At a glance: A moisture-drenched overnight mask infused with niacinamide, ectoin, and the brand’s signature CBD complex to calm and plump skin while you sleep.

My experience: Sleeping beauties, listen up! This is the kind of product that makes you wake up looking like you’ve had a full eight hours, even if you haven’t. Thick without being greasy, it turns dull, dehydrated complexions bouncy again by morning.

Ideal for: Tired skin (and tired people) in need of an overnight revival.

7

Keune

Long & strong serum

At a glance: A growth-boosting serum formulated to strengthen follicles and reduce breakage for visibly longer, healthier hair.

My experience: As we all know, hair care is the new skincare. This serum is supposed to mimic the body’s own growth signals, and (whether it is placebo or not) it seems to be working. It hasn't turned me into Rapunzel overnight, but my tired, choppy bob is finally on its way to shoulder-length status, with the help of a few extensions and this magic potion.

Ideal for: Impatient types growing out an impromptu haircut.

8

Erborian

Skin hero glow

At a glance: A luminous take on Erborian’s Skin Hero: a primer-meets-perfector that blurs pores, boosts radiance and helps improve skin texture over time while leaving a subtle, lit-from-within finish.

My experience: This Glow version made me go “oh” on first swipe. It brightens without obvious shimmer, smooths skin texture and gives a soft-focus sheen that looks fresh under makeup or on its own. Exactly the kind of skin-perfecting hybrid product that saves time on rushed mornings.

Ideal for: Glow-getters who demand hard working products.

9

Kess

Concealer stick

At a glance: A cream-to-skin concealer stick with built-in SPF 20 that covers redness and minor spots while double-duty protecting delicate undereye skin.

My experience: This is the pocket-sized hero you reach for when you need to look marginally less exhausted in public. The formula melts on contact and blends into the skin with a fingertip so you can layer it without that cakey finish cream sticks sometimes deliver. The SPF is a thoughtful bonus for quick touch-ups but don’t treat it like your full-day sunscreen.

Ideal for: Commuters, parents, or anyone who needs a one-handed, one-swipe fix at a tram stop or red light.

10

Chanel

Poudre universelle libre

At a glance: The house’s cult loose powder reformulated into a luxe compact for purse-ready touch-ups that blur, mattify, and refine without ever looking flat.

My experience: This is the kind of little luxury that changes how you feel about reapplying your makeup. The powder is micro-milled, so it melts into skin instead of sitting on top of it, and it softens shine without stealing sheen. It doesn’t cake, it doesn’t emphasise texture, and it plays nicely over different finishes — tinted moisturisers, fuller foundations, and bare skin alike. Packaging-wise, the compact reads very Chanel: discreet, weighty, and unashamedly covetable.

Ideal for: Lovers of little luxuries who want their on-the-go powder to look as good as it performs.
