I'm a beauty editor, and these are 10 new beauty products that went above and beyond this April

By Josefin Forsberg

Every month, Vogue Scandinavia’s senior beauty editor, Josefin Forsberg, tests countless formulas to discover beauty products truly worth your attention. This April, she’s curated a must-try list of standout launches, including melt-away bronzing balms, glow-and-go body oil, and a set of brushes that will last you a lifetime, among other fresh picks. Dive into her curated edit of this month’s 10 beauty breakthroughs

Louis Vuitton

eLVes

Via Louis Vuitton

At a glance: Building on Louis Vuitton's long heritage of travelling trunks and holiday-making, eLVes was made for the perennial traveller. A contemporary floral that is described as "complex, spontaneous, and joyful" by in-house Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, this flirty fragrance is built around a Bulgarian rose absolute and a CO2-extracted Centifolia rose exclusive to the French Maison. Grounding the scent, blackcurrant, peach, and a delectable hint of coconut milk mingle with cinnamon, ginger and a warm ambroxan.

My experience: Fragrance is always hard to summarise with just words, considering it is arguably the most personal and experiential product category – cue the many cerebral perfume commercials we've soaked up over the years. This perky purple juice is no different. But, in the spirit of trying, I'll say this: Since trying eLves, I've been overrun by olfactory questions from the first floral spritz.

Ideal for: Those seeking a new spring scent.

Caia

Soft melt bronzing balm

At a glance: At Caia's housewarming party earlier this month, eager complexion lovers were keen to discover two new additions to the brand's cheek-refining line: the soft melt blush and bronzer balms. Infused with Sodium Hyaluronate, this ski-loving product is a texture dream and (as a result) incredibly user-friendly, both when dabbed on with your fingers or swept across the cheek with a stippling brush.

My experience: Despite being ghostly pale and living in lands rarely touched by the sun, I've never been much for bronzers. That was until recently, when the industry introduced a lineup of natural-looking complexion warmers. One of these was Caia's soft melt bronzing balms, which, as the name suggests, melted into my skin like a dream, leaving me with that sun-kissed complexion I've craved for years.

Ideal for: A melt-away bronzed glow just in time for summer.

Rapunzel of Sweden

Interchangeable Hair Styling Tool Kit

Via Rapunzel of Sweden

At a glance: Rapunzel of Sweden's multi-use tool comes with three barrel options: a 25 mm for defined curls and waves with precision, a 38 mm for big, glamorous curls or a luxurious blowout effect, and a 32 mm hair waver for beachy texture. The extra-long barrels can be swapped out with a simple twist, and the ceramic coating (for even heat distribution, shine, and long-lasting results) heats up to 200°C.

My experience: It's ironic that, just as I chopped all of my hair off, feathered, fluffy curls came into style. With a short bob, most curling tools quickly became redundant, but for this three-piece barrel. Be it a big blowout shaped by the 38 mm barrel and left to set, a quick-twist curled styled with the smaller wand, or beachy texture done in seconds due to the clamp-and-go nature of the waver, I've been reaching for this trio daily since receiving it.

**Ideal for:**A three-in-one toolkit for any (and every) curled style you could covet.

Viktoria Beckham Beauty

Buffer Brush

Via Victoria Beckham Beauty

At a glance: Inspired by treasured calligraphy tools, Victoria Beckham's new makeup brushes feature a walnut handle with distinctive grain — no two brushes are alike. Crafted with specialised synthetic bristles that mimic traditional natural fibres for pigment pickup, the weight, hand-shaped brush heads, and curvature of each handle are all engineered to sit comfortably in your hand.

My experience: The one beauty product that could last you a lifetime? A set of well-made and well-taken care of makeup brushes. And Victoria Beckham's carefully considered bristles are bound to make you worship them. Spanning ultra fine, almost pointillism precise concealer brushes to buffing bristles resulting in a second skin finish, there's a brush for every makeup bag in this collection. Are they pricey? Yes. Can we girl math the cost-per-use? Absolutely

Ideal for: Luxury brushes to last you a lifetime.

Common Clouds

Cloud Screen

Via Commons Clouds

At a glance: Korean-made, with Swedish senisbility, Common Cloud's Cloud Screen is an ultra-light, hydrating SPF50 sunscreen with the latest generation of broad-spectrum protection to shield your skin against both harmful UVA and UVB rays. Bioactive extracts from centella asiatica (cica), oat, and artichoke help to soothe skin, while glycerin and niacinamide balance hydration levels and strengthen your skin barrier. The non-irritating, non-comedogenic formula is suitable for acne-prone and sensitive skin.

My experience: Featherlight, zero pilling and with broad spectrum coverage – I'm no sunscreen sceptic, but I believe the most SPF averse would be easily convinced to use this hydrating defence on the daily. No scent and non-sticky, it melts into the skin like an essence would, leaving little to no residue behind, just supple, well-protected skin.

Ideal for: a daily sunscreen, light-as-a cloud sunscreen that doesn't sting.

6

Dior Beauty

The self-tanning gel

Via Dior Beauty

At a glance: Dior's popular face-friendly self-tan gel has a new bronzie-enhancing sibling, Dior's self-tanning gel for the body. A formula infused with DHA to reveal a golden, even tan effect, and AHA lactic acid – an ingredient known for visibly improving skin quality and the tan. The best part? It dries down in three minutes flat.

My experience: As a self-proclaimed fake tan novice, I find Dior's no-rinse, lightweight, sensorial formula to be easy to use with a natural, streak-free result (as long as you buff out at those pesky dry patches and oft-forgotten ankles.) Buildable, I enjoyed the customisable application with every layer taking me from pasty white to amber glow.

Ideal for: an easy-to-handle, life-like tan.

7

Bali Body

Watermelon Tanning Oil SPF 50

Via Sephora

At a glance: Formulated for all skin types, including sensitive skin and dry skin in need of hydration, Bali Body's Watermelon Tanning Oil with SPF50+ UVA and UVB broad-spectrum protection. The reef-friendly formula is enriched with watermelon fruit extract, grapeseed oil, and vitamin E to hydrate, soothe and brighten skin.

My experience: Listen, Bali Body's original tanning oil is oft considered a cult product for good reasons. For one, it melts into the skin, leaving no sticky residue behind. In fact, I find the oil formulation adds a golden glow before I even hit the tanning bed. The new upgrade with SPF50 protection just helps me stay in the sun for a bit longer before reapplication. There's not a hint of that typical sunscreen smell. Instead, you're enveloped by a fresh, juicy watermelon scent that makes me think of holidays far away from home.

Ideal for: Sweet-smelling beach holidays.

8

MAC Cosmetics

Dazzleshadow Eye Shadow Stick

At a glance: The Dazzledshadows we know (and love) in a new format: a dome-tipped stick that can be used as a shadow or liner with 12-hour wear. This easy-to-apply metallic eye shadow stick with bold colour payoff perfectly slots into that swipe-and-go lifestyle. Available in eight shades, ranging from icy white to a blackened purple with multicoloured pearls.

My experience: As someone who has recently begun experimenting more with high-impact eyeshadow looks for daily wear, I have grown to really appreciate an eyeshadow stick. And Mac's metallic make provides the perfect base for extra-sparkling application. No slip and non-creasing, I like topping mine with a matching chromatic powder just to push the eyeshadow to the edge.

Ideal for: high-impact pigments in an easy-to-apply formula.

9

Nuxe

Huile Prodigieuse Or Roll

At a glance: Nuxe's Huile Prodigieuse (especially the one with gilded pearl particles) has guaranteed a golden glow for years now. Boasting seven precious oils of 100 per cent botanical origin, this icon has now been reinvented in a new roll-on format, offering a playful, quick, and practical application. A dry oil, it sinks in quickly, leaving behind satin finish skin and lustrous locks.

My experience: Whether it was my clavicle or winter-pasty legs, this roll-on oil helped me regain my glow with simple, hydrating swipes. I've even used it in my winter tresses, which went from bone dry to luscious and lustrous. A true quick fix now that we're gearing up for short-shorts season with limbs on full display.

Ideal for: Supermodel legs with a golden summer glow.

10

ACO

Face Purify Exfoliant Toner

At a glance: ACO's brand new BHA exfoliator is an effective skin-buffing toner that gently removes dead skin cells for balanced and healthy skin, boasting up to 24h moisturisation to boot. Dermatologically tested and unscented, the two per cent BHA minimises pores, reduces sebum and impurities, while the five per cent PHA helps improve skin texture. Panthenol soothes irritation during exfoliation, and partnered with betain and glycerin, the skin's moisture levels thrive even when stripped bare.

My experience: Sensitive skin seeking a spring clean of the pores? This exfoliator is just what the doctor ordered. While ACO themselves recommend daily use for those struggling with sebum, I've found two to three nights a week to be the perfect rotation for the tinder dry among us.

*Ideal for: Weekly clean-up of clogged pores.
