Baum und Pferdgarten - AW22

By Allyson Shiffman

Set against the backdrop of a haunting full moon, Baum und Pferdgarten presented its take on cold weather dressing

For Baum und Pferdgarten’s AW22 collection, the frigid winters of Copenhagen were simply not cold enough. Instead, designers Helle Hestehave and Rikke Baumgarten cast their gaze north – way north – to the singular landscapes of The Arctic. “We were fascinated by the extremes – the extreme weather, the extreme contrasts,” says Hestehave. “It seems so fragile and beautiful and, at the same time, so grand and powerful.”

These contrasts are prevalent throughout the collection. Set against the backdrop of a haunting full moon, we found a red metallic puffer, cinched at the waist, paired with a micro mini and heels. Elsewhere, puffy miniskirts – hardly a practical choice up north – offer a tongue-in-cheek take on cold weather dressing. “I’m especially happy with the red colour palette,” says Baumgarten. Elsewhere, we find extreme attention to detail. Hestehave gushes over a blue waistcoat – an unassuming piece at first glance – but meticulously tailored, with razor-sharp lines.

But the real showstoppers were those sparkly peach numbers, playfully paired with puffed up scarves. Party dressing goes north – what could be more Danish?
