Red is dead. At least when Submission Beauty’s Zenia Jaeger returned to the Copenhagen runway with look as playful and personality-driven as Caro Editions itself
If you know Caro Editions, you already know the drill: playful proportions, unapologetic colour, and a nostalgic love affair with the 1980s. For AW26, that energy hit the runway in a lineup that danced the line between streetwear and prom. The beauty followed suit. Returning to Copenhagen Fashion Week after over a decade, Submission Beauty founder Zenia Jaeger marked her homecoming by killing off two long-standing staples: mascara and the classic red lip.
“The concept was elevated everyday,” says Jaeger. “Caro and I talked about the balance between casual and couture. We didn’t want anything overly ‘done’.” Lighting was a key player in the final outcome. “The lighting direction this season shaped everything,” Jaeger notes. “We mixed Submission Highlighters in Deep or Lucid depending on the model directly into moisturiser for a lit-from-within effect.” For dimension, the deeper shade was used again to contour, sculpting subtle shadows that came alive under the beam of the runway lights. The result was luminous and a little uncanny. “Like a street doll,” says Jaeger.
