In a superb display of sartorial storytelling, Avenue. FYI’s spring/summer 2022 collection has the makings of a grunge fairytale
Avenue. FYI are the new cool kids on Norway’s sartorial block. With a sense of nostalgia and grittiness, the brand often draws on the alternative music scenes of the 1980s and 1990s for reference.
Exploring the wilderness, this season the brand focuses on folklore and fairytales. Looking to Norwegian painter and illustrator Gerhard Munthe and his mad-cap medievelist art, the designer trio decided to draw inspiration from the villains in the stories. The mysterious creatures and witchy women of lore were captured in a colourful collection filled with silk, cotton and wool in loose fits layered looks.
