Sweet Valentine: How the stars will stir up emotions this Valentine's Day

Exclusively for Vogue Scandinavia's Society members, astrologer Clarisse Monahan of Venus in Retrograde charts each month's most powerful cosmic shifts, breaking down exactly how to understand, navigate and benefit from them

You’re not imagining it: things are rough right now, both cosmically and socially. Sadly, there’s tension everywhere, not least in the heavens, where, currently, a rare and overheated stellium (or traffic jam of multiple planets) is packed into Aquarius, the zodiac’s humanitarian, clearly under duress.

When we look forward to Valentine’s Day and the romance it celebrates, the energy appears astrologically somewhat iffy, too. The Moon (how we feel about stuff) will be transiting stern and unsmiling Capricorn. Not the best Valentine’s placement, as amorous as a pre-nup, basically.

What’s more, on Valentine's Eve, grim Saturn (planet of restriction, time, and responsibility) enters into confrontational Aries. Meaning? Flirty fun is not indicated here either. Saturn-in-Aries is more like a serious conversation that could get heated.

We do have an ace in the proverbial hole, namely, lovely Venus. On this day, it will be luxuriating in Pisces, where it’s 'exalted.'

While I’m merely the messenger of these missives from the Universe, I’m also here to say that we shouldn’t get too bummed about them. Why? Despite all this serious Saturn energy, both with Aries and the Capricorn Moon (Saturn rules Cap), we do have an ace in the proverbial hole, namely, lovely Venus, the patron saint of Valentine’s. On this day, it will be luxuriating in Pisces, where it’s "exalted." Pisces is dreamy, hazy, and poetic, and Venus becomes more lovey-dovey in this sign.

So, let’s use this silver-lining-of-a-romance-transit to our advantage and look at where Planet Love will be activating your chart. Think of what follows, then, as a Venus Valentine’s Horoscope to help you find some warmth amid the Saturnal cold.
