Arriving at the Super Bowl yesterday, Travis Kelce wore Ole Lynggaard’s iconic elephant pendant to complete his over-the-top retro fit
There was an unexpected Danish easter egg nestled into Travis Kelce’s Super Bowl arrival outfit. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end rolled up to Ceasars Superdome wearing a custom burnt orange suit by Amiri and a gleaming gold Elephant pendant courtesy of Danish heritage brand Ole Lynggaard. The necklace proved the perfect piece to tie together the opulent look, which appeared plucked straight out of a sleazy '70s nightclub, down to the glimmering wide-collared shirt and black and white penny loafers.

The elephant motif was designed by Ole Lynggaard himself; in the 1960s, the goldsmith became enamoured with the massive creatures whilst travelling through Asia. It wasn’t just the animal’s appearance that caught Lynggaard’s eye, but its considered, gentle nature and fluid movements – despite its size there was an elegance to the animal (not unlike the fluid on-field movements of Kelce, come to think of it). Lynggaard gifted the very first elephant piece to his wife, Karin, while the couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Tanzania; a fittingly romantic item for a romantic like Kelce, who – perhaps you heard – has been very publicly dating Taylor Swift since 2023.
These days, the elephant, an emblem of the Copenhagen-based heritage brand, is said to bring luck to those who wear it. Unfortunately its powers weren’t enough for Kelce yesterday; the Chiefs ultimately lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, a result Kelce, like an elephant, is unlikely to forget.
