In what could've been a 2000s fever dream, celebrities did not disappoint when it came to serving looks in the VMA's 2021 red carpet

It's safe to say that the beauty and style at this year's Video Music Awards was something else. In a nostalgic homage to Y2K, they could've easily been beauty looks from 10 or 12 years ago. In fact the images were the most recent reiterations of celeb style on the red carpet. That being said, the celebration did allow some of the world's favourite stars to showcase all their glory and here we compiled some of the best beauty looks from their red carpet arrivals.

Kacey Musgraves set the bar high with a two-toned shimmery eyeshadow look that matched perfectly with her outfit for the carpet.

Dove Cameron was reminiscent of the classical "good girl goes bad and then goes to prom" with a dark smoked shimmery shadow, glossy lips and renaissance waves.

Doja Cat proved the power of blending with a dual toned eyeshadow that made her eyes the center of attention while combining perfectly with her look for the night .

Tinashe embodied the perfect 2000s fantasy with a half updo, blonde streaks, strong brows and dark eyes .

Billy Porter, our new favourite godmother, opted for a darker look with a strong glittery eye that matched perfectly not only his look, but also his beard.

Avril Lavigne, the original grunge-pop princess, marked her resurgence with a modern take on her classic coloured shadow eye look.

Megan Fox walked down the carpet in a perfectly crafted look that combined a flawless base, a pouty lip and just the right amount of moist in a water crimped hair.

Charli XCX transformed into a modern Morticia Addams with an over coiffed hair and a soft blended liner look .

Bretman Rock went for a classic makeup look to contrast his bouncy, voluminous hairstyle that surprisingly was not the only mullet that graced the carpet.

Cyndi Lauper's pastel locks and blue eyeshadow look for the night was a proof that even at 68 girls just wanna have fun.

Lil Nas X strutted the carpet while rocking another one of the night's most iconic mullets paired with glowing skin and a strong eyebrow look.

Madison Beer appeared with her now signature romantic soft glam look that combines a subtle glowy makeup with her luscious, parted, hair .
