"The surface of Earth and eroded metal" are the references applied to the feminine form for TG Botanical's spring/summer '24 collection and second outing at Copenhagen Fashion Week
With its focus for spring/summer '24 on transience, movement and change, it's only fitting that TG Botanical held its showcase under a bridge. Bright and early on a Thursday morning, the underside of Knippelsbro – which connects the city centre to Christianshavn – would usually only witness a handful of cyclists, pedestrians, a tourist or two. But, with direction from TG Botanical's creative director Tetyana Chumak, the space transforms into a runway, with models gliding past the steel supports and water's edge.
As was so well established in AW23 – when the brand was a finalist for the Zalando Sustainability Award – this brand is intrinsically linked with nature. This season, it's the "destructive processes of nature and its eternal cyclicality" that have served as inspiration for Chumak. The collection captures this sense of frailty with organic lines, artful distressing, and an earthy palette sprinkled with ocher and blue: there's a certain ephemeral quality throughout.
As always, the materials are wholly natural too. There are certified batiste, cotton, silks, organic nettle and linens for kinetic skirts and cargo trousers. SS24 also marks the introduction of accessories for TG Botanical, with tote bags, mules and a mini bag on show – all produced from old nettle cloth.
It's a poetic presentation that further defines TG Botanical's place in the Nordic fashion landscape. But above all else, this collection is highly wearable and bound to translate seamlessly to the wardrobe of the Scandinavian girl.
