This coming season, the Swedish brand's trusty muse sets out for business in the big city, before setting off for a summer abroad or in the archipelago

"This season she is just that little bit sexier," founder and creative director Elin Alemdar muses in the brand's Stockholm showroom. She's speaking about the brand's ever-present 'muse' – a fictive woman whose life has inspired the designer for over 20 years – while holding up the spring part of the spring/summer 2023 collection, a buttery display of soft camel coats and impeccable tone-in-tone tailoring. To me, it seems as if the effervescent muse is heading for business abroad, getting away from Stockholm's sleet covered streets around the time of the drop. "Exactly," Elin responds. "Isn't this just the perfect airport look?" She is holding up the brand's signature crease-free blazer and matching trouser in beige, with the brand's new signature black leather handbag and sleek cat-eye sunglasses to match. I nod in agreement, sipping an espresso slowly.

Heading into high summer we see a warmer palette, with the muted neutrals of chocolate brown, white and beige set against sunny yellows and tangerine oranges. Working with linen qualities, the brand's timeless take on tailoring is continued into the warmer months. as seen in the soft silhouettes of collar less blazers and boxy shorts. While it is the perfect set for summer's spent in the city, Stylein also provides a striped, blue pyjama style two-piece fit for an archipelago getaway.

If there is one aspect to admire Stylein for, it is its consistency. "As usual, I've been looking for simplicity and to create pieces that live beyond the spring or summer," Alemdar explains. "A line-up of pieces that will carry over year after years." Among the classic Stylein cuts and qualities, however, there's a hint of experimentation running through the collection. A cropped coat offers the perfect trans-seasonal layering tool, cocooning around the wearer with an air of effortless luxury. Last season's favourite cut-out dress comes back in new colour ways, not to mention as a blouse bolstering the understated sexiness of the season.
