Swedish-born model, content creator and founder Johanna Thuringer wed American company founder Maks Ezrin amidst the grandeur of the Stockholm Opera House. Over the course of a weekend in the summer, the duo introduced their guests to a host of Swedish traditions, and now, exclusively with Vogue Scandinavia, the couple are ready to share the details of their special day

When multi-hyphenate Swede Johanna Thuringer married founder and American Maks Ezrin earlier this summer, a traditional venue did not make the cut. Churches, function halls and gardens could not compete, it seems, with the glitz and grandeur of the Stockholm Opera House. "I was born and raised in Sweden," explains Thuringer. "Over the past eight years together, Maks has completely fallen in love with Sweden, especially Stockholm, so celebrating our wedding here felt natural and deeply personal."

To the couple, the Opera House ticked every box: iconic, historic and architecturally breathtaking. It also happened to be walking distance from Strandvägen, where most of the American guests were staying, as well as being able to host all of their events under one roof – ceremony, cocktails, dinner, and reception. Plus, its grand staircase in the entrance was an opportune place to have an aisle – "soaring ceilings, marble, gold details, red carpet, and hundreds of years of history: it felt uniquely 'us'," explains the bride.
