In Season 5 of Emily in Paris, Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, doubles down on her love of Danish brand Stine Goya. We have all the details on the delightful polka dot set
Emily in Paris Season 5 has just landed on Netflix, which means it’s time to dissect all of Emily Cooper’s perfectly over-the-top looks. This season finds Emily – played, of course, by former Vogue Scandinavia cover star Lily Collins – traipsing (gondola-ing?) along the canals of Venice, which means an extra dose of on-the-nose La Dolce Vita outfits (this season takes place in Italy; Emily moved to Rome at the end of Season 4). Case in point: this instantly charming two-piece polka dot set, courtesy of Danish designer Stine Goya.

Created in collaboration with the show’s costume team, the look features a structured bustier top and fluid A-line skirt, both rendered in a bold polka dot print. Constructing the set in heavy silk, meanwhile, adds a touch of luxury well-suited to the occasion. “The cut is intentionally simple, allowing the print and the fabric to speak,” says Goya. “It felt perfect for her arrival in Venice, a new chapter, and a new city for her.” Emily accessorised the look with white cat eye sunglasses and chunky gold hoops, her hair swept back in an elegant bun. It was a moment so iconic, it made the first press stills of the season.
This is hardly the first time Goya has been worn by Collins in Emily in Paris. Back in Season 4, the character donned an abstract floral vest by the brand whilst jogging through the streets of the French capital. The designer has seen Collins’ character evolve, both internally and in her style, over the past five seasons. “She is learning, maturing and becoming more confident, and her style has naturally evolved alongside that journey,” says Goya. “She began as a playful, expressive American in Paris, and today she feels more blended in, much more chic, elegant, yet still bold and expressive. For this look, we wanted to reflect that confidence and elevation of the character.”
It’s no surprise, really, that Goya has become a mainstay on the series; not only does the brand’s vibrant, print-heavy aesthetic perfectly suit Emily Cooper’s more-is-more fashion sensibilities, off-screen, Goya and Collins are friends (Collins, who owns a house in Copenhagen, often dons the Danish brand in her private life, too).

In fact, Emily has a thing for Scandinavian brands in general. In addition to often wearing Rotate in the series, she's been spotted in a slew of other Scandinavian Brands.
Though Goya rose to the aesthetic occasion, she has never been to Venice herself. “Seeing Lily’s character make her grand entrance in Venice wearing the look we designed only made me want to experience the city even more,” she says. “It felt like a beautiful preview of a place I already imagine as deeply romantic and inspiring.” Goya and her team plan to watch the look make its Netflix debut in the kitchen of their Copenhagen HQ – the room Goya describes as “the heart” of the space. “It’s where we gather for lunch, celebrate after shows, and share everyday moments together,” she says. “So it feels like the best place to celebrate milestones like this.”
Those dreaming of recreating Emily’s polka dot moment are in luck: Stine Goya is dropping a capsule featuring both the set worn on screen as well as a complementary high-necked polka-dot dress. The pieces will be available in limited quantities via the brand’s website and stores. Gondola not included.
