Skall Studio - SS26

By Allyson Shiffman

With 'La Dans Act II', sisters Julie and Marie Skall swap rigid choreography for feeling-led movement, unveiling a SS26 collection defined by fluid silhouettes, sun-washed softness, and accessories crafted from orange and cactus byproducts

Lately Skall Studio has been enamoured with dance. Sisters Julie and Marie Skall began exploring this area with their pre-spring collection, dubbed 'La Dans', and for spring/summer '26, the designers continue this conversation. But whilst pre-spring dealt with the “discipline and structure” of dance – the counts and choreography, a certain considered strictness – SS66, 'La Dans Act II', is something else entirely. “It celebrates movement guided by feeling rather than form,” says Julie. “We found deep inspiration in the early morning light, the calm promise of a new day, and the poetic stillness that comes with it. The collection is defined by softness, breath, and an effortless sense of grace.”

This manifests in garments that move with the wearer’s every whim. Silhouettes, rendered in natural, soft fibres, and sun-washed tones bounce and sway with every step. Bell-sleeved peasant dresses, some with delicate laser-cut pattern, relaxed denim and trousers that feel lived in give way to a certain summerhouse ease. Thoughtful tailoring, meanwhile – relaxed blazers, easy breezy trousers – offers a lovely juxtaposition to more fluid silhouettes. “It’s this duality – structure and softness – that gives the collection its subtle energy,” says Marie.

Set in the idyllic garden of the Designmuseum Danmark to the tune of a live three-piece band playing classical music (most fittingly, 'The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies'), the show read like a stunning dream sequence, in which the models might, indeed, break into lyrical dance at any moment.
Throughout the collection, Skall continues its exploration of new sustainable materials. For the very first time, the brand introduces shoes, crafted in a leather-like material made from Sicilian orange and cactus byproducts (its also fashioned into sumptuous belts and butter soft bags). “These additions expand the Skall universe in a way that feels both natural and exciting,” notes Julie. Not only are the shoes sustainable, they’re impossibly cute: slip-on sandals sure to be on the feet of many a show-goer come next spring.

With this influx of accessories, the girls worked with a stylist for the very first time, Jasmine Hassett, who finished the looks with subtly sculptural jewellery by Le Sundial. “The styling is minimal, poetic, and present,” says Julie. “The full look creates a sense of quiet power and freedom – like an off-duty dancer who dresses with instinct, not rules.” Quite like the way fans of the brand adapt the ethereal pieces to their everyday, come to think of it.
To that end, the collection is less a contained idea and more an entire summer mood that’s specifically Skall. “It’s a living expression of what it means to feel deeply and move freely,” says Marie. “It continues our journey into garments that hold space for the wearer’s own story. It’s about creating beauty that lasts beyond seasons – beauty that moves.”
