With summer holidays just getting underway, few are eager to already fast-forward to autumn. But while the looming return of office life – and the first chill of yet another Scandinavian winter – may send shivers down your spine, there is one undeniable silver lining: the fashion. Autumn/winter '25 serves up a veritable smorgasbord of aesthetic delights – bold and bright, strikingly daring, or ladylike and demure. Take your pick (perhaps even that deliciously venomous shade of green).
Below, we break down the nine standout AW25 trends, and curate the key pieces to channel them right now.
Pump up the volume
From exaggerated shoulders to extreme hips, the volume of the season is turned up – way up. Shape-shift into something else entirely with extreme silhouettes, which amplify the form. Whether you opt for a more-is-more approach or pair a full skirt with a second-skin top, the impact will be deafening. Enter narrow doorways at your own risk.

Not-quite-Brat-green
Yes, a blinding bright green is carrying over into autumn, but this is not the Charli XCX-endorsed hue of last summer. Rather, the season's unmissable shade is brighter still; an electric green that colours sumptuous fabrics from lace to suede. Adopt it as an accent colour or wear it top-to-toe. It's easy being green.

Planet of the draped coats
The new autumn statement coat just dropped and it's draped. As elegant as it is easy, a draped coat is the epitome of Scandinavian effortlessness – a throw-on-and-go expression that elevates casual looks whilst being entirely appropriate for black tie affairs. And an added bonus? A built-in scarf or hood (depending how you drape) provides extra insulation from the bitter cold wind. Grab yours now and be ready for the inevitable temperature drop.

Mighty midis
Bid farewell to micro-minis (for now, at least), the skirt of autumn/winter 2025 is the flouncy midi. Ladylike and versatile, the midi skirt – particularly one marked by soft pleats or a gentle A-line – is just classy. Style with a button-down shirt or cozy sweater for day or pair with a sharp blazer for evening and look instantly put together even when you don't feel it.

Flirting with fur
After a barrage of faux fur yeti coats, this season's approach to fur (both real and faux) is notably more subtle. We're speaking, of course, of the fur trims, adorning everything from pleated skirts to statement coats to cocktail dresses. A 1920s expression made modern with unexpected material mashups (hello, leather) and of-the-moment prints. Add a touch of decadence – you deserve it.

Fringe benefits
Fringe is back, baby (or perhaps it never left). For AW25, however, it's really making its mark, adorning not just trim but full garments top to bottom, with long thin strands that swing and move. You're going to like life on the fringe – trust us.

Check mate
Call it the Burberry effect; tartans and checks are out in full force. A preppy expression popping up on teeny tiny pleated skits and demure blouses. Whether your look veers private school or Glastonbury, it promises to be firmly on-point. Best served with a pint of Guinness.

Romantic ruffles
Every since Chloé re-enetered the chat (our gratitude to Chemena Kamali), romantic ruffles rendered in sweet chiffon have been on everyone's moodboard. Now they can cascade down your body, too. Tragic romance not included, but certainly advised.

Power suit
Money never sleeps and neither does the '80s power suit. This time around it's sharper, sexier and more shoulder-focused than ever before, rendered in 50 shades of grey and ready to wheel and deal. Appropriate from boardroom to boogie, the '80s power suit is a stock worth betting on.
