Sézane and Sea New York reunite for their third collaboration

By Clare McInerney

Sézane returns to its ongoing collaboration with Sea New York, marking a third collection together and nearly 10 years since the French brand first opened its doors in the US

Inside Morgane Sézalory’s Parisian apartment, parquet floors, vintage armoires, and lofty shelves of books, art and antiquities set the tone. Though she no longer lives in the two-storey 19th-century Left Bank building, Sézalory – the founder of Sézane – still opens the space for moments like this. Editors gather around a long table as she is joined by Monica Paolini and Sean Monahan, the New York–based designers behind Sea New York. It's clear from the laughter, ease and shared anecdotes between the trio that these are collaborators who know each other well.

It is here, amid the homely Parisian calm, that Sézane is previewing its third collection with Sea New York – marking nearly a decade since the French label first opened its doors in the United States. It's partly a reunion but more a continuation of an ongoing creative exchange shaped between Paris and New York.

The seamless bond between Sézane and Sea has always been one driven by common values: an appreciation for savoir-faire, a reverence for vintage references, and shared ideas of femininity. “Working together again felt both natural and exciting,” says Sézalory. “There is a freedom and creativity in their world that constantly inspires me. Together, we wanted to design pieces that truly delight – creations that feel unique to both of us, yet belong to neither alone. That’s where the magic happens.”

That shared spirit comes through in the collection itself. Showcased in the upper rooms of the apartment, winter light falls on impossibly intricate lace blouses and crochet collars, floral embroidered blouses and soft denims. Colourful patchwork quilting is rendered across a tote, skirt, a sure-to-sell-out coat, and even homewares. The whimsy is grounded, naturally, with gorgeous wooden clogs that ooze '70s ease.

For Paolini, creating the collection felt truly instinctive. “We wanted to create something that felt both familiar and new,” she says. “Rooted in our shared appreciation for craft, yet shaped by the distinct energy of our two worlds. It’s a celebration of femininity, texture and the small details that make a piece truly special.”

The campaign was shot on the streets of New York City, with a particular focus on Nolita (home to Sézane’s first North American Appartement, and the neighbourhood where the brand first established its physical presence in the US). It’s a setting that mirrors the collaboration itself: Parisian DNA translated through a New York lens, and vice versa.

Back in Paris, conversation around the lunch table turns to early memories. Sézalory recalls the first time she met Monahan: she had forgotten the keys to the space where she planned to show him some designs. So, they had to walked across the city together – talking, chatting and getting to know one another long before the clothes entered the conversation. It’s a story that neatly encapsulates the collaboration itself: intuitive, human, and built on connection.

The collection launches Sunday 16th January 2026, exclusively on Sezane.com and in select Sézane Appartements. See the full lookbook below
