Séfr - AW26

By Clare McInerney

For autumn/winter ’26, Gothenburg-based Séfr steps into a liminal space with 'Dream State', a collection that explores the blurred boundary between reality and fiction.

“I’ve always had a very strong sense of visualisation,” says Séfr's creative director Sinan Abi Morshed. “Ever since I was a child, I could create my own worlds and connect them deeply to my emotional life.” That instinct carries through the brand's AW26 collection 'Dream State', which is shaped by vivid dreams, memory, and the fleeting sensation of moving between different states of being. “I love the feeling of flying in a dream, or falling – and then waking up in my bed, asking myself: Where was I just now?

That in-between moment, one world dissolving into another, becomes the conceptual core of the collection. “That space between worlds – between reality and fiction – is what 'Dream State' is about,” Morshed explains. The idea deepened during the design process, sparked by a question from his son, Luca: What if everything we consider ‘real’ is actually just another dream? “I found it very beautiful,” he adds, “and it stayed with me while creating the collection.”

Translated into clothing, AW26 feels distinctly Séfr, with a surreal streak. The collection is built around texture, colour, and proportion, reflecting the shifting moods of autumn – changes in light, humidity, calm, and tension. Silhouettes are clean and well-balanced, with tailoring at the forefront and subtle construction details quietly elevating familiar forms.

A recurring design element this season is the slit, appearing across outerwear, denim, and tailored trousers. Introduced in unexpected places, these sharp interruptions create movement and a restrained sense of tension. Materials further reinforce this balance, with cashmere, nappa leather, yak wool, and fine knits lending softness to more sculpted shapes.

While 'Dream State' feels introspective, it also signals an evolution for Séfr. “This collection feels more alive and closer to everyday life,” Morshed says. “It’s still very balanced and precise, but with a stronger sense of ease and wearability.”
