Illustrated by Maija Louekari for Marimekko, this cup of joe is brimming with Finnish flair

Considering the ever-famous line "I need a coffee the size of my head" from Sex and the City, we're all well aware of how much Carrie Bradshaw loves her caffeine. It's a characteristic Sarah Jessica Parker shares with her leading lady, and apparently she prefers hers poured in a Marimekko mug.

Sharing her morning cup of Joe to instagram, SJP further cemented her self-professed “Scandiphile” status by opting for a Finnish cup. While the form was designed by Sami Ruotsalainen, the recognisable Siirtolapuutarha (City Garden) print comes courtesy of artist Maija Louekari.

The illustration, originated in 2008, was inspired by Louekari's bike rides to and from Marimekko's Helsinki headquarters. "I passed this beautiful allotment garden every day," she says, explaining how the Finnish flowers and plants in the middle of the city inspired the pattern. "And the girl with the scarf around her head," Louekari exclaims, "that's my daughter Stella."

Maija Louekari admits that "it was a big surprise" to see her work on the starlets instagram. "Actually, I think I have seen some older Marimekko patterns in Sex and the City's earlier seasons, if I remember right," she muses. That said, she wouldn't mind producing something special for SJP. "Oh that would be so nice! would love to do that," she exclaims. "As a freelancer pattern designer, that would be a dream job! Maybe a print for clothing inspired by Carrie form Sex and the City? Or a big scarf," she muses on the possibilities.

We keep our fingers crossed for an upcoming And Just Like that... collaboration.
