Samsøe Samsøe brings AW25 to Berlin: See the campaign and shop the stand-outs

By Clare McInerney

Shot in the heart of Potsdamer Platz, Samsøe Samsøe’s AW25 campaign, 'Where the Lights Meet', celebrates connection, movement, and the clothes we return to again and again. Below, we unpack the Berlin moment – and share an edit of the pieces that we're shopping now

There are few places as charged with movement and memory as a city train station. A site of arrivals, departures, and the suspended in-between, it’s where stories begin, end, and often stall. So it makes perfect sense that for autumn/winter '25, Samsøe Samsøe would land at the architectural tangle of Berlin’s Potsdamer Platz – an epicentre of crosscurrents – for a campaign that hinges on both literal and emotional connection.

Titled 'Where the Lights Meet', the AW25 campaign is as much about the relationship we hold with the garments we wear as it is with the people we love. Shot by German photographer Philipp Paulus across both the bustling streets and subterranean levels of the iconic Berlin location, the campaign doesn’t shy away from noise, movement, or the randomness of urban life. Quite the opposite – it embraces them. Models Nina Marker and Yura Nakano navigate the crowd, their silhouettes catching glimmers of train-station glass, their steps mirroring the hurried choreography of strangers. The result is striking: metropolitan clothing made visible, not in isolation, but in interaction.

At a time when ‘quiet luxury’ and ultra-minimalism continue to dominate fashion’s frontlines, Samsøe Samsøe’s AW25 campaign adds something quietly radical to the conversation: emotion. The brand isn’t so much selling garments as inviting you to sit with them – literally, in the case of the plush bean bag chair placed squarely in the middle of the shoot. While this may appear like an odd prop choice at first glance, it speaks directly to the campaign’s undercurrent of waiting, of pausing amidst the rush.

In a similar poetic move, a frog (yes, a frog) makes a recurring appearance, chosen not for trendiness, but for its symbolism of prosperity. In an urban jungle full of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it fashion moments, Samsøe Samsøe is clearly focused on what lasts.

Durability, after all, is one of the collection’s main tenets. As the brand notes, “longevity is front and centre,” and it shows. Supple leather jackets in dark brown dip-dye, charcoal-toned polo knits, heavyweight denim, and sturdy outerwear form the backbone of the offering. These are clothes made to be worn, reworn, and then passed down. There’s even a debut spotlight on yak wool – an environmentally resilient fibre spun from the animal’s warm undercoat and now appearing across the collection’s knits and accessories.

Still, this is Samsøe Samsøe – Scandi by birth, Copenhagen-cool by nature – and that laidback effortlessness seeps through in pieces like the oversized ‘Shiloh’ tortoiseshell jacket, high-shine ‘Sabrenta’ boots in black olive, and the quietly subversive ‘Samaria’ slingbacks. The textures, tones, and silhouettes strike that elusive balance between utilitarian and elevated—pieces you might throw on for a walk through Nørrebro or a night out in Neukölln, with equal ease.

The accompanying campaign video series drives the point home, pairing the collection’s most directional looks with the fluid movement of the city itself: blinking traffic lights, the iconic green Ampelmann pedestrian sign, and glimpses of the Fernsehturm tower in the distance. It’s an homage to Berlin’s character – and by extension, to every individual navigating a city with a look uniquely their own.

But what feels especially fresh here is the brand’s refusal to present urban life as sterile or cold. Instead, Where the Lights Meet is imbued with warmth, intimacy, and even optimism. That lime green thread running through the campaign – from the frog to the subtle glow of the train station’s glass – recalls the Radiant Connection installation that previewed the collection during the AW25 edition of Copenhagen Fashion Week at the start of the year.

Anchoring the collection is a line-up of versatile, city-ready staples rendered in rich, earthy tones and tactile textures. Outerwear is a standout—oversized cocoon coats in soft neutrals and deep tortoiseshells, while the supple leather jackets offfer dark, dip-dyed finishes. Denim runs both slouchy and structured, often paired with heavyweight knitwear that’s soft to the touch and built to last – some spun from yak wool, a quietly luxurious addition this season.

On the menswear side, tonal layering is key, with corduroy tailoring, washed cotton shirts, and relaxed overshirts in grounded shades like coffee brown and raisin. Accessories keep pace with urban life: sculptural boots, structured totes and compact crossbodies strike the balance between practicality and polish. It’s a AW25 wardrobe made for movement and longevity. Let theses be worn to greet someone you’ve missed, or to say goodbye. Let them mean something.
