Samsøe Samsøe - AW23

Samsøe Samsøe celebrated 30 years with a collection of signature silhouettes and reinvented classics

This season Samsøe Samsøe honed in on heritage. Taking a trip down memory lane, head of womenswear Meme Marta Fagiuoli and her team looked back to past collections and examined how they have helped shape the brand over the previous three decades. “Samsøe Samsøe has a strong history of designing collections that appeal to a broad customer group. We have been a reliable brand with steady growth,” says Fagiuoli.

This populistic approach was the team’s main inspiration for the autumn/winter 2023 collection. Inclusivity took centre stage in a line-up of familiar and flattering silhouettes. “It’s a celebration of what we are proud of; how we have been able to cater to a diverse group of people, always having inclusiveness and individuality in mind, striving to improve the product range with every collection,” said the designer. Returning to its roots, this collection focused on early 1990s sophistication along with future-looking approaches. Reinventing classics, the brand shuffles its cards as it swerves in a slightly new sartorial direction.

A new wave of styles caught our eye: laser-cut motor jackets, sci-fi homespun waved knits, race-inspired checked pants and multi-coloured icy silk dresses, mixing more classic pieces like comfy cardigan sets, puffed retro trench coats, tailored suiting, and functional outerwear. All in a neutral, sepia-toned palette – akin to a negative film roll. And while the anthracite grey, taupe, black and white tones served as a memory of the past, the neon green, shocking pink and electric yellow beamed out like a futuristic ode to Samsøe Samsøe's future.
