Runic Astrology September 14th - September 20th: What do the runes have in store for you this week?

By Randi Bjærum

Runic astrologer Randi Bjærum uses the ancient Viking practice to forecast your love, money, career, style and health every week

Divination in runes is an ancient art that can be traced back to the Norse God Odin. Old scriptures show that the Vikings then continued this tradition – they even used used rune symbols in jewellery, clothing and weapons to boost their energy.

Each person has their own rune stone, depending on on what day, and at what time they were born. This unique birth rune indicates the abilities, talents and resources that you bring into your life.

But as the universe is constantly changing, daily, weekly or monthly runic astrology can tell you how events, actions and things affect your life. It can also reveal what energies, events and changes are occurring, and how you can best act on them. A runic horoscope is a guide to your spiritual journey, and a guide on how to live life to the fullest.

Perthro (13th January - 28th January)

The protection around you grows stronger as you become clearer about your own boundaries. You may feel more certain about what you want. Last week’s new moon requires a sacred space in which to grow. Say no to anything that disrupts what you are trying to build.

Algiz (28th January - 13th February)

A need becomes clearer, and you may sense where your energy truly needs to be directed. Limitations this week can become mentors rather than obstacles. Patience is a form of inner strength. Distinguish between what your soul needs and what your ego desires.

Sowilo (13th February - 27th February)

A lighter energy arrives after a period of inner work. You may discover joy in something simple that previously went unnoticed. Last Friday’s new moon asks you to spread your energy even further.

Teiwaz (27th February - 14th March)

Something unexpected may break a pattern that no longer serves you. It may feel disruptive, but the chaos also carries a cleansing force. Avoid rebuilding what last week’s new moon is trying to free you from.

Berkano (14th March - 30th March)

A hidden insight is illuminated, and something you have been trying to understand may suddenly fall into place. Creativity and intuition are working together now. Let your light show you the way without trying to illuminate everything at once.

Ehwaz (30th March - 14th April)

The energy between you and others becomes clearer, particularly where there is reciprocity. An encounter or connection may open a new door. Share your thoughts and ideas. Let others see what you have to offer.

Mannaz (14th April - 29th April)

You are moving into a new phase, even though the path ahead is not yet entirely visible. The energy of last week’s new moon helps you adjust your course so that your outward movement and inner direction are more closely aligned. Trust your gut instinct.

Laguz (29th April - 14th May)

The power of last week’s new moon meets a threshold, and something requires you to pause before you act. What initially seems like resistance may actually be protecting you from heading in the wrong direction. Let insight come before the decision.

Ingwaz (14th May – 29th May)

A new inner strength is awakening, and you may feel the need to stand more firmly within yourself. The old shell is becoming too tight because you are beginning to outgrow it. Trust the signals from your body and soul.

Othala (29th May – 14th June)

The seed planted by last week’s new moon is beginning to show its first signs of strength, particularly through finances, work and what you value. Something you planted earlier may now begin to yield a quiet return. Pay attention to what grows when you nurture it.

Dagaz (14th June – 29th June)

Words carry greater power this week, and a conversation may hold more meaning than you initially realise. A message may come through another person, a dream or a chance encounter. Listen, too, to what remains unsaid.

Fehu (29th June – 14th July)

A seed planted with last Friday’s new moon is beginning to gather strength beneath the surface. This is a time for inner ripening before its visible manifestation emerges. Something within you is preparing to be born into a new form. Enjoy it!

Uruz (14th July – 29th July)

Your intuition flows more strongly now, particularly when you stop demanding logical explanations for everything. Dreams and feelings may point you in a direction your mind does not yet understand. Go with the flow, but stay connected to your inner anchor.

Thurisaz (29th July – 13th August)

This week, you may feel the need to distinguish between who you truly are and who others want you to be. Last Friday’s new moon opens a space in which you can define what you wish to carry forward. Make use of it!

Ansuz (13th August – 29th August)

Movement comes through collaboration and trust. Someone may prove to be an important companion on the road ahead. When you stop trying to carry everything alone, the journey becomes easier. Find the person moving in the same direction as you, not simply at the same pace.

Raidho (29th August – 13th September)

Turn your attention towards yourself and what is yours. An encounter may reveal a quality that you need either to embrace or let go of. Last Friday’s new moon asks you to build a stronger connection between your inner and outer life.

Kenaz (13th September – 28th September)

A shift is approaching in your life as a consequence of last week’s new moon. A new understanding may arise suddenly, like morning light after a long night. You no longer need to be the same person who entered this lunar cycle. Choose yourself and your new self!

Gebo (28th September – 13th October)

The pace slows, allowing you to see more clearly. What appears to be standing still is not necessarily dead; something may simply be going through a necessary period of maturation. Let the stillness work for you. Avoid trying to force the ice to melt before the sun is ready.

Wunjo (13th October – 28th October)

A softer, more nurturing energy surrounds you. Something new needs care, whether it is a relationship, an idea or a part of yourself. Growth happens best when you resist constantly digging up the seed to see whether it has sprouted. Let it grow at its own pace.

Hagalaz (28th October – 13th November)

This week is about integrity, courage and standing up for what is true for you. A decision may require you to choose what is right rather than what is easy. The seed planted by last week’s new moon may need a clear direction in order to take root.

Nauthiz (13th November – 28th November)

Something that has been hidden may begin to reveal itself to you. Coincidences, dreams and symbolic encounters may carry a message for you this week. The unknown may be an invitation. Be open to something new.

Isa (28th November – 13th December)

A clearer direction is beginning to emerge, and your confidence grows as you dare to follow your own light. It is time to recognise where you have made yourself smaller than you truly are. The power of the sun reminds you of your own creative will. Use it!

Jera (13th December – 28th December)

An inner transition is under way, and you may feel as though you are standing between the old and the new. This is a threshold, not a void. Your task is to remain connected to your inner compass. Stand still amid the change and feel what cannot be taken away from you.

Eihwaz (28th December – 13th January)

What you have sown in the past is beginning to approach its natural harvest. Results come through rhythm, perseverance and trust in timing. Last Friday’s new moon reminds you that you do not need to ask permission to be who you already are.
