Rotate Birger Christensen - SS22

By Allyson Shiffman

Fast vintage sports cars and looks that made us want to hit the dance floor - welcome to Rotate's larger-than-life Spring/Summer 2022 collection

If any brand is going to serve a going out look, it’s Rotate Birger Christensen. For today’s SS22 presentation, creative directors Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimarsdottir showcased an endless stream of fits that deserve to be out and about.

As guests arrived to the cavernous space, models sat parked in cars - vintage Porsches and BMWs - waiting to step out. And they really stepped out. Glittery going out tops, second-skin denim with “R” stitched on the rear, and fuzzy sets that would befit a sexy Cher Horowitz. Ceval brought the house down in a form-fitting black and navy marbled dress — and later, in a furry ball gown.

The inspiration behind the collection – Fran Drescher's ineffably charming character Fran Fine in 1990s cultish classic The Nanny – was visible in the tight mini skirt, loud prints and prismatic two-pieces. The models embodied the everyday glamour of the iconic character as they proceeded down the runway. The founders, who rewatched the show and fell back in love with the larger-than-life lead, wanted their SS22 collection to toe the line between over-the-top and subtle, just like Fran Fine.
