Upon arrival in Canada, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were welcomed with full ceremonial honours at Rideau Hall. For the occasion, Queen Silvia made a considered tribute to her hosts through her attire, opting for a striking red dress and matching coat in a clear nod to the Canadian flag. To face the northern chill, she draped a black faux-fur cape coat over her shoulders, finishing the ensemble with a chic Philip Treacy beret and a statement Joan Rivers bow brooch.

Later that evening, the monarch stepped out in a show-stopping deep-blue velvet gown by Maknam for a gala dinner in Ottawa. The piece dazzled with intricate beaded floral appliqués that trailed along the hem, neckline and sleeves – a quiet masterclass in regal detailing. Maintaining her impeccable royal style, the Queen accessorised with a potent symbol: her husband's Royal Family Order, pinned elegantly to the gown with its signature blue ribbon, and finished the look with a sophisticated red lip.

But the true highlight? Her dazzling suite of diamonds. She opted for a breathtaking collection of modern pieces – earrings, a brooch, a necklace, and a bracelet – all featuring a brilliant mix of pear- and marquise-cut diamonds, set lavishly in yellow gold. Adding a contemporary twist, Queen Silvia layered on a delicate diamond pendant and numerous bracelets on both wrists, including the eternally classic Cartier Love bracelet.

On the second day of the visit, Queen Silvia arrived in polished style at Nunavut Sivuniksavut College, an institution dedicated to empowering Inuit youth through education, cultural connection and personal development.

The monarch chose a monochromatic tweed skirt set from Weill, its delicate beaded pearl detailing adding subtle dimension to the ensemble. She finished the look with a white pussybow blouse from Vesna W Mary, a cherished staple she has worn before.

The traditional reciprocal dinner, hosted by the King and Queen on the second night of their visit, unfolded at the iconic Fairmont Château Laurier hotel. For the black-tie affair, Queen Silvia opted for a striking fuchsia, floor-length wrap gown by Swedish label Thalia, distinguished by its crystal-button detail. She layered the look with a soft mauve pashmina, and once again wore the King’s Royal Family Order.

For her jewellery, the Queen selected an eye-catching necklace and earring set from Thai house Beauty Gems – the same atelier known for transforming one of her necklaces into a wedding tiara for her daughter-in-law, Princess Sofia of Sweden. Crafted from gold, diamonds, amethysts and carved rock crystal, the set brought a contemporary edge to the gown’s otherwise classical silhouette.

On the final day of the visit, while touring aircraft manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace, Queen Silvia delivered a refined take on office-casual dressing. The monarch wore a burgundy suit by German label Georg et Arend, paired with a geometric-print blouse from the same brand. She added a contemporary, street-smart twist by grounding the tailored ensemble with crisp white Rieker trainer.
