As the Danish royals arrive in France for a three-day state visit, Queen Mary is set to deliver some noteworthy looks that effortlessly unite Scandinavian and Parisian style
France instantly evokes images of couture and masterful craftsmanship – intricate details, delicate stitches, and an undeniable sense of elegance. It seems Queen Mary of Denmark shares this sentiment, as she pays homage to her host country with a wardrobe that reflects its refined artistry, stepping out in impeccably curated ensembles during her state visit alongside King Frederik X.

Upon arriving in the City of Light, Queen Mary stepped out in an elegant ecru skirt suit by Dior. Though not quite the silhouette of the house’s iconic ‘New Look,’ the blazer grazed the hipline with subtle darts accentuating the waist, while the skirt fell just below the knee in a display of regal refinement. She completed the ensemble with cap-toe pumps from Gianvito Rossi, a black Mulberry ‘Islington’ bag, and a diamond-pleated headband from Jane Taylor Millinery. Adding a distinctly royal touch, the Queen adorned herself with earrings and a brooch from the Danish Pearl Poire set.

For the state banquet in the evening, Queen Mary stayed true to her refined colour palette, wearing an embroidered blouse by Australian label Clea, elegantly paired with a grey floral maxi skirt from one of her favoured Danish designers, Lasse Spangenberg. She completed the look with Gianvito Rossi pumps and an Anya Hindmarch ‘Maud’ pearl tassel clutch. For her jewellery, the Queen opted for ‘Gipsy’ chandelier earrings by Copenhagen designer Ole Lynggaard in 18k gold and rose gold, adorned with white quartz, aquamarine, London blue topaz, and diamonds.

On their second day in Paris, Queen Mary, originally from Australia, paid homage to her homeland. For the occasion, she wore a sharply tailored grey-green crepe suit by Australian designer Scanlan Theodore, paired with a blush pink ruffled shirt. She completed the look with pink python pumps from her favoured shoe brand, Gianvito Rossi, and added a brooch from her charity, Mary Fonden.

On the evening of April 1st, the Danish royal embraced a gilded aesthetic in a metallic-detailed sheer coat from the Italian label Taller Marmo, a piece she has worn before. Once again, she chose Gianvito Rossi pumps, this time edged with lace, and accessorised with intricate earrings by Portuguese jewellery designer Alma e Coração. The standout piece of her ensemble, however, was her bracelet. The flat gold chain, linked together by an extravagant diamond pendant, was inherited from Queen Louise of Sweden-Norway, and was once her engagement bracelet.

To kick off the third and final day of the state visit, Queen Mary embraced a slightly edgier look while maintaining her signature royal elegance. She donned a suit from Copenhagen brand MKDT’s spring/summer '24 collection, featuring knee-grazing shorts and a blazer cinched at the waist with belt detailing. She paired the ensemble with a classic Chanel flap bag in brown suede and over-the-knee stiletto boots from Aquazzura. To shield her eyes from the bright Parisian sun, she slipped on a pair of light brown Ray-Bans and added a touch of Danish decadence with the diamond 'Boucle Ensemble' earrings from Copenhagen jeweller Sophie Bille Brahe.
