You'd be forgiven for mistaking Paris-based brand Polène's sculptural silhouettes as distinctly Nordic. Now, its hot-commodity handbags (favoured by the likes of Josephine Skriver and Kendall Jenner) have finally hit our home shores with an impossibly pretty Copenhagen store. Below, we pilgrim to the latest must-visit boutique for Scandinavian bag savants

Polène has officially arrived in Copenhagen, and the scene at the store's opening proved just how eagerly awaited the moment was. Located on Højbro Plads in the heart of Indre By, the French brand’s first Danish flagship welcomed a steady stream of local tastemakers and loyalists, all there to finally experience the sculptural leather goods in a physical setting.

At the opening, content creator Amalie Star carried the new 'Numéro Neuf East-West' in Ebony, a freshly launched baguette-take on the brand’s signature shape with its longer, leaner, zipped silhouette. Benedikte Thoustrup, Count Nikolai of Monpezat’s girlfriend, opted for the 'Cyme' tote as her everyday carry while Marie Jedig picked the swirled 'Neyu' belt bag for the occasion.

The new store brings the brand’s identity to life without overplaying it. Soft curves, neutral tones and considered materials give the space a quiet confidence. Vaulted forms echo the arum flower, though you don’t need to know that to appreciate the room’s calm. Shelves finished with leather embroidery and generous walnut fixtures show the level of attention Polène trades on: shape and structure rather than overt branding. It is a formula that fits neatly into Scandinavian wardrobes.

What gives this flagship a local pulse is the involvement of Copenhagen designers. Sculptor Nicholas Shurey’s walnut tables ground the room. Natural Material Studio’s biomaterial podiums cast a soft light across the bags. Danish designer Sia Hurtigkarl’s limited-edition Yni baskets, made from Polène’s leather offcuts and stitched with raffia, sit comfortably within the city’s ongoing conversation around craft and sustainability. Visitors can also weave a small leather charm shaped like an origami boat, a quiet nod to Nyhavn, along with personalised engravings just in time for the gifting season.

In a city that values design without theatrics, Polène lands smoothly. The flagship offers a clear, well-edited view of the brand, and Copenhagen gains one more place to stop by under the guise of “just looking”.
