Inspired by our anniversary shoot featuring a trio of Pippis in our Aug–Sept issue, Vogue Scandinavia curates a shopping edit that translates Pippi Longstocking’s unmistakable charm into everyday pieces
Stripes, checks and fearless pattern-mixing – Pippi Longstocking couldn’t be more on-trend for her 80th birthday. In our latest , we reimagined the beloved character in the home of her creator, celebrated Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, dressing three modern Pippis head-to-toe in the season’s standout autumn/winter '25 runway looks.
This season heralds the return of maximalism and the ’80s (farewell minimalism and quiet luxury), and we leaned in: knitted stripes layered beneath floral dresses, mismatched checks styled in tandem, and bold red knit dresses offset with colourful stockings. Even argyle makes a spirited comeback, clashing playfully with tartan.
Known for her mismatched stockings, oversized shirts, and an effortlessly eclectic sense of style, Pippi Longstocking has long been a symbol of unfiltered self-expression. In this article, we reimagine her signature look with modern-day wearability - from classic stripes, loafers and playful polka dots to preppy argyle, checks, knits and colourful sneakers. The result? A jubilant celebration of fashion at its most fearless and unapologetically fun.
Below, discover our favorite shopping picks inspired by the world’s most iconic rule-breaker.

Checks on checks
Checks continue to hold their place in the modern wardrobe. Whether sharp and structured or soft and oversized, the pattern brings both texture and ease – a subtle nod to Pippi’s patchwork world, reimagined for today.
Argyle
There’s a certain charm to argyle – a touch of nostalgia paired with new-season sophistication. Layered under blazers or worn oversized, this diamond pattern delivers a sense of Pippi’s offbeat layering instinct.
Floral-embellished knits
Soft textures meet playful detail in this season’s most charming knits. Floral embroidery and appliqué bring a sense of character without sacrificing wearability, a subtle reference to Pippi’s flair for the unexpected.
Polka dots
Whimsical without being childish, a print noticeable both on runways and the streets this season: polka dots. Stylish, full of personality and as spirited as Pippi herself.
Stripes
There’s a reason stripes remain a wardrobe staple – crisp, graphic, and endlessly versatile. Not only are they a classic in our wardrobes, it's also a signature element of Pippi's look.
Leather loafers
If there’s one shoe that bridges youthful and everyday chic, it’s the loafer. Chunky soles, classic leather, or penny-detailed – they ground any outfit with a touch of structure. Pippi may have worn boots to outrun pirates, but in 2025, we’re stepping out in loafers.
Colourful sneakers
Colourful sneakers bring playfulness to everyday dressing. For our editorial, we styled them mismatched in true Pippi spirit. Equal parts comfort and character, they’re a perfect way to embrace her joyfully unconventional style.
