From prams to prêt-à-porter: Nuna just launched a line of covetable cashmere and cotton clothing

By Clare McInerney

Introducing Nuna Wardrobe: the parenting brand’s first welcome foray into fashion. We sit down with the Nuna team in Stockholm to explore how thoughtful design, tactile luxury, and magnetic innovation came together for the covetable new line

When parenting powerhouse Nuna – a longtime Vogue Scandinavia favourite for its sculptural strollers, ergonomic carriers, and beautifully engineered essentials – decided to move into clothing, the leap felt not only natural, but inevitable.

“This has been a long time coming,” says Whitney Grant, head of Nuna Wardrobe. “From the very beginning, we talked about it. We always knew we were going to make clothing for children and mothers. We just needed to make sure that, when we did, it was perfect.”

That perfection arrives in the form of Nuna Wardrobe, a new ready-to-wear collection designed to bring the same level of thoughtful engineering and minimalist luxury that defines the brand’s baby gear into the daily lives – and closets – of modern parents. Think clean lines, neutral tones, whisper-soft cashmere, and cotton blends that feel as good as they look.

Below, the Nuna team sit down in Stockholm to discuss the creation of Nuna Wardrobe.

If Nuna’s award-winning strollers and car seats are a masterclass in functional design, Nuna Wardrobe is their tactile counterpart. Each piece is created to embody what the brand calls “luxury that feels like love.” It’s the first time the company has expanded beyond baby products into fashion, yet it feels like an authentic extension of the brand’s DNA – comfort, craftsmanship, and care.

“We needed to make it so that mum feels what baby’s feeling,” Grant explains. “They’re sharing the same fabrication – the same softness against their skin. It’s this beautiful connection: the mother and child literally wrapped in the same comfort.” The collection’s palette of soft green (Athens), light mauves, browns (Tan and Sienna), beige and dark grey (Shadow) evokes the neutral serenity of Scandinavian interiors, while the silhouettes recall the quiet, neutral polish of COS or Toteme: timeless, unhurried, clean-lined.

Of course, Nuna wouldn’t be Nuna without an ingenious bit of design innovation. Just as its strollers glide open with a single motion, the Wardrobe collection features MagneTech quiet close™, a concealed magnetic closure system that replaces zippers, snaps, and buttons with smooth, silent functionality. Hidden magnets allow parents to fasten or unfasten pieces without noise – perfect for sleepy babies, quick changes, or fussy toddlers. “It's so easy, the child can use the fastenings as they’re learning to dress themselves,” says Grant. “And it’s kind of a little bit playful for them too as they are discovering it.”

The same technology appears across both adult and children’s garments, from the asymmetrical onesie that opens from neck to ankle to a tiny sweater with a magnetic collar. “I’m probably most excited about the asymmetrical onesie,” admits Grant. “It’s a staple piece to have for your child, and to be able to have this neck-to-ankle magnetic closure that just seamlessly goes together – it’s quiet, very easy to dress, very easy on and off.”

Nuna Wardrobe also taps into one of fashion’s most charming recent trends: coordinated looks for parent and child. The brand calls it ‘matching moments’ – a way for mothers (and fathers) to share not just style, but a sensory connection through shared materials and tones. From soft two-piece sets to mini-me outerwear, the designs maintain a sense of refined minimalism – never overly sweet, always sophisticated.

“It’s really supporting parents to dress very luxuriously,” says Marta Piña Fernandez, Nuna's head of marketing. “You know, as a parent, you’re rushing around, and you need to throw something on but still look nice. With Nuna Wardrobe, you're not compromising on your style just because you become a parent.”

The line for women and children (and men's pieces coming soon), is designed as both a capsule wardrobe for everyday life and an heirloom collection for those milestone moments – a baby’s first winter, a mother’s first trip away, the matching sweaters worn for years of photos to come.

As for the future? Nuna hints that this is just the beginning. “We’ve always designed around parents’ lives,” Fernandez says. “This collection is simply another way of doing that – another way of saying that life with children can still be beautiful, still be well designed, still be you.”
