Happy news from Vogue Scandinavia’s October-November cover stars, the Moomins: The iconic Moomin Arabia tableware – including the world-beloved Moomin Mugs – receive new additions this January, carrying a sweet message for 2026. Below, all you need to know about the charming launches
This time of year always ignites countless predictions, promises, manifestations and visions for the new year lurking around the corner. For Moomin Arabia, the celebrated Finnish design company behind the iconic Moomin Mugs, 2026 will be all about love and compassion.
Today, the brand announced that it will be expanding its beloved Classics collection, featuring new product lines, aptly dubbed Love and Care, which it notes “depict the many ways love can be expressed,” spanning a variety of charming tableware, textiles, and decorative objects. These launches will become available in January, arriving in tandem with the 30th anniversary of the Moomin Love Mug, a sweet pastel pink porcelain number adorned with hugging Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden, two main characters of the Moominvalley.

If you’re familiar with the Moomins – the widely adored, hippo-like creatures drawn by Finnish artist Tove Jansson in 1945 – either through the comics, books, or the hit 1990s animated TV show, you’ll know that love plays a central role in the Moomin universe. Whether it’s the kind and nurturing parental figures Moominmamma and Moominpappa, who welcome everyone as they are, or the strong bonds of friendship between Moomintroll, Snorkmaiden, Sniff and Little My, love was a defining theme for Jansson, which she explored from many a perspective.
The fresh product lines take a page out of Jansson’s book, with the Love range honing in on forgiveness – a core element of love – as portrayed in the resilient, hardship-overcoming Moomin stories, where the characters find strength in each other. As with the original Love Mug released in 1996, the collection, rendered in sorbet shades of pink and purple, features Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden frolicking under the sun across mugs, bowls, kitchen towels, bedding and more. Its dainty drawings are inspired by three series: Moomin at Sea (1959), Moomin and the Sense of Citizenship (1958) and Snorkmaiden in Rococo (1958), created by Jansson and her brother, Lars Jansson.

Elsewhere, the Care line draws on two of Jansson’s comics, The Lonely Island (1955) and Moomin Falls in Love (1956), illustrating heartwarming adventures as a relaxed picnic turns into a daring rescue mission or as Moomin helps Moominmamma tend her garden. Splashed with soft hues of sage and pale pink, the Care range introduces, in addition to the standard porcelain tableware, a coffee spoon, napkins and a mini mug.
The Love and Care products will become part of the permanent Moomin Arabia Classics collection from 21 January 2026. They will be available in Moomin Arabia's online store moominarabia.com, in Moomin Arabia's brand stores, Moomin Shops and in the online store moomin.com, as well as widely available through retailers.
