At The Aurora 2025 the Möllard siblings will transform a MINI Cooper into a moving work of art

By Eleanor Kittle

At The Aurora’s dedicated Vogue Scandinavia lounge, siblings Madelen and Robert Möllard will create a MINI art car live – capturing the pure joy of driving in real time. Ahead of the six hour painting session, we caught up with the duo to hear how they plan to bring their vision to life

Car colours tend to live in a narrow spectrum: navy, silver and white dominate the streets, with the occasional ochre or pearlescent finish providing only a brief visual jolt. For an object so tied to personal freedom, movement and style, the automotive palette feels long overdue for a shake-up. Well, Vogue Scandinavia is ready to break the mould.

This summer, during The Aurora (the annual Båstad-based celebration of cars and culture) MINI will do just that. Guided by the vision of Martin Pohl, Head of Marketing & Product at MINI Northern Europe, the brand is teaming up with artistic siblings Madelen and Robert Möllard for a live car‑painting experience that will result in an exuberant, one‑of‑a‑kind MINI Cooper – alive with colour, creativity and whimsy.

In preparation for this unique collaboration, the Möllards took time to reflect on their personal relationship with cars – not simply as transport, but as vessels of experience and emotions. For them, driving is an act steeped in “repetition, ritual, rhythm and routine” according to Robert. It is a familiar journey through time and motion. "Driving to work, driving from work," as he describes it.

It is precisely this magic - "the poetry of motion, the meditative rhythm of travel" - that the siblings aim to translate onto the MINI Cooper during their live presentation at the Vogue Scandinavia lounge. Through their design, the duo seeks to capture the duality of nature under shifting light. "Joyful and energetic colours representing the seemingly unending circular movement of the sun and moon," will sweep across the car. Just like "a golden sunset showering your face, before the moon washes you in silver."

But the siblings' vision extends beyond the exterior. Just as important is what can be seen from the passenger seat - and the small, often-overlooked pleasure those moments inspire. "The joy of following a raindrop running down the window, and of looking at the blurry landscapes," for example. For Madelen and Robert, driving invites a contemplative state. It becomes a rare space for meditative reflection in our fast-paced world.

At The Aurora, the Möllards will transform the MINI Cooper into something more than a vehicle: it becomes a canvas for motion and meaning. Their project is a vivid reminder that creativity can be found in the most unexpected places and that, sometimes, a touch more colour is all it takes to change how we see the road ahead.

Madelen and Robert Möllard's live MINI painting will take place from 10:00-16:00 on Saturday, 28th June. See here what other unmissable things will take place at the Vogue Scandinavia lounge here.
