Mads Mikkelsen and his pup, Messi, pay homage to Hannibal in coordinated plaid and paisley

Christmas came early this year by way of Mads Mikkelsen’s latest Instagram post. We find the Danish actor in a three-piece plaid suit and paisley tie, a not-so-subtle homage to the plaid and paisley-combos favoured by his iteration of Hannibal Lecter in the beloved series Hannibal (he also appears to be in a kitchen, undoubtedly Hannibal’s favourite room). Sharing the spotlight is Mikkelsen’s pooch, Messi, who coordinates with his owner in a red and white plaid scarf. Unsurprisingly, the comments are wild.

“Merry Christmas everyone from Messi, Mads and a slice of Hannibal”, states the caption, which is topped off with a Santa emoji.

Mikkelsen, who rarely blesses his loyal followers with such personal content, could be at the forefront of an emerging trend. While twinning with romantic partners, siblings and one’s children is a tricky feat to pull off, twinning with one’s pet is universally charming. We’d love to see a flurry of other Scandi stars release similar holiday content. Let’s see Bryanboy and his pup, Bettina, in coordinated Chanel or Matilda Djerf and Rufus in matching fits by Djerf Avenue. A perfect look for a holiday paw-ty.
