Danish actor Linnea Berthelsen went to great lengths – literally – to conceal the news that her Stranger Things character, Kali, would be returning to the hit Netflix series for its final season. Specifically, for nearly a year she was tasked with concealing that she had shaved her head to reprise the role. “Netflix did give me wigs, so as we were shooting I was wearing wigs when I went home,” she says. “When I went to birthday parties or something I had a pretty interesting wig. I tested it on a few friends and they didn’t notice.”
But now that the series finale has aired – on New Year’s Eve, no less – the cat’s out of the bag. Berthelsen, who is based in London but had returned to her hometown just north of Copenhagen for the holidays, watched the show’s last episode with her partner when it dropped on Netflix. “It was a long night, but it was a very special moment,” she says, noting that the local release time was 2AM. “I did watch it just to have that experience.”
