Exclusively for Vogue Scandinavia's Society members, astrologer Clarisse Monahan of Venus in Retrograde charts each month's most powerful cosmic shifts, breaking down exactly how to understand, navigate, and benefit from them

New Moons are for starting or trying new things. In the astrology world, we say they are also moments to set intentions or plant seeds for the waxing lunar phase (that is, the two weeks between the New and Full Moons). Maybe you want to start a project, change your look, or embark on a new romance. The New Moon is a moment to give these inklings a little push into existence.

Importantly, the intentions you set should align with the sign the New Moon is transiting. We don’t want to start a visionary art project during a picky Virgo New Moon. Conversely, don’t begin your taxes during a messier New Moon in Pisces.

So what’s up with the Libra New Moon on October 10th?

Ruled by pretty Venus, Libra is the sign most associated with appearances and looking good. Its symbol is the Scales, so its energy also has to do with finding balance, seeking harmony, and arriving at consensus through diplomacy. The Libra nature can also be indecisive: weighing too many options and choosing none.

There is also an interesting wrinkle to this Libra New Moon: its ruling planet Venus is retrograde (which means it appears to be going backwards in the sky in relation to us). A Venus Retrograde always reminds me of High Fidelity, where John Cusack tracks down his top five exes to find out what went wrong. Accordingly, the next two weeks could find us revisiting the past: old loves, old wounds, unfinished business. Have you ghosted someone who deserves closure? Are you waiting for closure from someone else? This is where we make peace with what came before.

But where, exactly, should you be planting these very Libran seeds, and what part of your life is due for a little balancing, beautifying, or renegotiating? That depends on your rising sign, naturally. Read on for your Libra New Moon horoscope. And, as always, stay starry-eyed!
