Hosted at Tölt, The Reykjavik EDITION’s tucked away speakeasy, the afterparty for Laufey’s homecoming shows was a friends and family affair set against the backdrop of the pop star’s home country. Laufey gives Vogue Scandinavia an exclusive look at the magical evening
It was a homecoming of epic proportions for Laufey this weekend as the pop star returned to her native Iceland to perform two sold-out arena shows at Kórinn Arena in Kópavogur. Though she’s been on her A Matter of Time tour since September and there have been many iconic moments (a PinkPanthress surprise cameo in New York, for instance), there’s something undeniably magical about a hometown show. “I played the show I would’ve needed to see as a child growing up between cultures and trying to find her place in the world,” she wrote on Instagram in both Icelandic and English. “I injected every childhood dream of mine into this show and I couldn’t be more proud of it.” She capped off the sentiment with a splattering of heart and sparkle emojis.
No epic homecoming show would be complete without an afterparty. And so, after a raucous encore, Laufey decamped to The Reykjavik EDITION. After a quick touch-up in her suite, she and her twin sister Junia headed to their intimate soiree at the hotel’s tucked away wood-panelled bar Tölt, to enjoy wine, beer, bites and a photo booth. There, friends and family toasted their hometown hero.
Below, Laufey gives us an inside look at the festivities.

"Getting my makeup touched up. Needed it after about 90 minutes running around on stage!"
