One of the foremost characters in Ingmar Bergman’s films – not to mention his personal life – was the island of Fårö. Here, just off the coast of Gotland in the Baltic Sea, Sweden’s most indelible filmmaker found his sanctuary, a reclusive haven where he lived and worked for over 40 years.
