Icelandic knit artist Ýrúrarí's daring designs are here to elevate your knitwear game

These are not your grandmother's sweaters

Working under the name of Ýrúrarí, Icelandic designer Ýr Jóhannsdóttir's bright and bizarre creations have garnered serious attention online. Although the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts and Glasgow School of Art alumna has had a penchant for the bizarre since graduating in 2017, it was her monstrous face masks – created at the start of the pandemic and picked up by art museums all over the world – that pushed her into the limelight.
