Hanna MW will be wearing swimwear in the city this summer – thanks to H&M Studio

This summer, swimwear breaks free from the beach. H&M Studio’s sculptural Pre-Summer 2025 capsule – given the stamp of approval from style savant Hanna MW – is the proof that a great swimsuit can stand on its own

Who says swimwear is reserved for the sand and sea? This summer, Vogue Scandinavia turns to the city streets to show how swimwear can (and should) be worn beyond the beach. The catalyst? H&M Studio’s Pre-Summer 2025 capsule, a sculptural, statement-making collection of swimsuits and accessories that blur the lines between fashion and function. And with style authority Hanna MW giving the collection her stamp of approval, it’s safe to say city-ready swimwear has never looked so compelling.

“I love the collection. I love the '80s glam,” says Hanna. “It feels so Riviera chic and it's perfect for the upcoming summer.” Known for her clever, easy-to-wear styling, Hanna proves that with the right pieces, a swimsuit can be as city-appropriate as a tailored trouser. “Bikinis and swimsuits are my second skin during the summer,” she adds. “I love the feeling of being free.”

Tailored for the woman who dresses with intention, the curated collection boasts architectural elements: angular cut-outs, asymmetrical lines, and built-in corsetry, all highlighting natural curves.

Key pieces include a golden one-piece with high neck, criss-cross back and high-cut legs for a sunlit, opulent glow, a black, asymmetrical one-shoulder swimsuit with a dramatic twist, and a structured silver halterneck bikini that shimmers with every step. And for those finishing touches, there are black statement sunglasses with silver accents, bold sculptural earrings, a black sarong with metallic ornaments and a golden knit cover-up with twist details at the hips – the kind of styling pieces that take swimwear from poolside to pavement.

“With this H&M Studio Pre-Summer capsule, we wanted pieces that were sharp, glamorous and a bit unexpected,” says Kathrin Deutsch, collection designer at H&M Studio. “The way the swimsuits drape the body is sculptural, which we emphasised with cut-outs and ruching in places. There’s also a sophistication running through the collection that’s feminine, radiant and bold. It’s definitely statement-making.”

For Hanna, summer in the city is about embracing spontaneity and style with equal measure: “My summer looks like biking around, morning coffee outside, and being a tourist in your own city,” she says. Her styling tip? “I love to work with a lot of jewellery, accessories, classic straw bags, vintage heels and headbands.”

This is swimwear designed not just for summer escapes, but for the season's city moments, too. Whether layered under a blazer or paired with oversized balloon pants (a favourite of Hanna's), this is your cue to take the plunge – no beach required.
