H&M Studio's new Resort capsule is a one-way ticket to 'la dolce vita'

By Clare McInerney

The capsule is fuelled by a “bold spirit of fun”, according to Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M's head of design womenswear and creative advisor

Picture this: it's golden hour in southern Italy. You're sitting in a bustling piazza with an aperitivo in-hand, as the sky turns pink following a day of exploring azure-blue grottoes. Regardless of whether you're with or without a Mediterranean-bound ticket this summer, H&M Studio's new Resort capsule has landed to make it a reality.

Brimming with vacation-ready silhouettes, joyful prints and an all-round sunny disposition, the collection transports us directly to a 'la dolce vita' mood. It's rendered in a palette of tangerines, honey-yellows and flashes of pistachio, with a covetable sprinkling of jet-set swimwear options and richly textured embroidery finishings.

“A bold spirit of fun energises this H&M Studio Resort capsule, with creativity and attention to detail adding intrigue and depth to every piece,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, head of design womenswear and creative advisor at H&M. “We wanted to create glamorous but relaxed looks for all occasions, and for every type of personality, with an overarching mood of effortless chic.”

Stand-outs from the capsule are a honey-hued oversized suit, and slinky V-necked patterned dress – both ready made for a balmy evenings out. Meanwhile, a black ruffled-trimmed maxi kaftan encapsulates day-to-night simplicity, while a silk shirt-and-shorts set is high on our wish list.

“Designed for relaxing summer escapes, the collection has an easy-going, feminine charm,” says says Angelica Grimborg, collection designer at H&M Studio, “with versatile pieces that effortlessly take you from morning sunrise by the pool to late-night parties on the piazza.”

Best of all, H&M Studio's sustainable initiatives are at play with the new collection which is crafted from organic silk and cotton, recycled polyster, Lenzing EcoVero™ viscose and Tencel™ lyocell – while several jewellery pieces are made from recycled brass.

The H&M Studio Resort capsule is available now inn selected stores and at hm.com.
