Renowned designer Gustaf Westman and Swedish Stockings are teaming up to redefine circularity with a limited-edition collection of handmade tables crafted from recycled tights – available from this Friday and sold online at auction house Bukowskis
It turns out tights aren’t just a clever transitional accessory for pairing with skirts and dresses when it’s too chilly to go bare-legged – they can also be refashioned into designer tables.
Launching this Friday, our region’s go-to tight connoisseur Swedish Stockings has teamed up with iconic luxury auction house Bukowskis for a themed sale featuring a limited-edition collection of sleek tables crafted from recycled tights, dreamt up by none other than buzzy Swedish designer Gustaf Westman.
“For us, this is the ultimate form of sustainability,” says Linn Frisinger, founder and CEO of Swedish Stockings. “By turning what is traditionally seen as waste into exclusive interior design, we highlight the potential of circular design.” Unlike many garments, old tights can’t be repurposed into new ones, leaving behind a mountain of material ripe for smart recycling – and offering a lifespan far beyond that one night out.

This innovative initiative builds on Swedish Stockings’ Recycling Club, a program launched in 2019 that invites consumers to send back their used tights instead of discarding them. Each table, depending on its size, harnesses between 300 and 800 pairs of tights combined with recycled fibreglass, resulting in a refined, eye-catching finish reminiscent of natural stone.
The auction line-up boasts a range of outdoor- and indoor-friendly iterations, from petite side tables to generous dining versions – all handmade in Sweden, each one unique in colour and texture. Echoing Westman’s signature chunky, playful aesthetic, the sculptural design features a rounded tabletop resting on a single, cylindrical base.
“This project shows what happens when fashion and design come together with a shared purpose – to create something beautiful, sustainable and meaningful from what is otherwise considered waste,” Frisinger continues. “That a renowned auction house like Bukowskis chooses to highlight and sell our collection sends a strong signal about the value of circular solutions.”
The auction for the tables will be open online at bukowskis.com from June 27 to July 4, 2025.
