Danish design house Gubi returns with another must-have reissue, this time reintroducing two of celebrated French designer Pierre Paulin's most iconic pieces from the 1960s: the ‘F300 Lounge Chair’ and the ‘T877 Table’. Below, everything you need to know about the launch – and how Gubi has worked to preserve Paulin's original vision while updating the pieces for today's sustainability-forward design landscape
Over the years, Danish brand Gubi has been behind some of the most covetable 20th-century design reissues, reviving certified icons from the archives courtesy of celebrated greats such as Gio Ponti, Greta Magnusson-Grossman, Louis Weisdorf and Pierre Paulin.
Now, following the sought-after relaunch of Paulin’s 1975 classic – the plush, cloud-like ‘Pacha’ lounge chair – Gubi is dipping further into the acclaimed French designer’s legacy, reintroducing two of Paulin’s best-known works from the 1960s: the ‘F300 Lounge Chair’ and the ‘T877 Table’.

Debuted in 1967, the ‘F300’ was nothing short of unconventional for its time. With its futuristic, sculptural silhouette – defined by organic curves, a low-slung, cushy seat and the forward-thinking use of fibreglass – the chair made waves for its never-before-seen, modern flair and remains relevant today.
“There’s an allure to the ‘F300’. It doesn’t rely on nostalgia – it feels fresh no matter when you see it. Pierre Paulin had a deep understanding of both the body and the eye; he created something expressive, playful, and supremely comfortable,” says Marie Kristine Schmidt, CEO of Gubi. “Reintroducing the ‘F300’ is about honouring his fearless experimentation and sculptural sensibility, but also about emphasising timeless design.”

In reissuing Paulin’s masterpiece, Schmidt says, staying true to the designer’s original vision was “absolutely essential.” “But so was bringing it responsibly into the world,” she adds. Gubi’s relaunch of the ‘F300’ renders the chair in new, eco-friendly material, HiREK® – crafted from industrial plastic waste – which retains fibreglass’s premium, moldable, lightweight, and durable high-gloss qualities. “It gave us the freedom to recreate the exact visual language of the ‘F300’,” Schmidt notes. “From the custom molds to the hand-finishing, every part of the production process was designed to honour Paulin’s design language while embracing the possibilities of today’s innovative materials and methods.”
Benjamin Paulin, son of Pierre Paulin, adds: “It’s true that the ‘F300’ is a visually striking chair with a distinct playfulness and a strong sense of character, but it’s much more than a photogenic sculptural novelty. The design is rooted in research and a practical understanding of how people sit. Such is the ‘F300’s shape that it is almost impossible not to relax when you sit in it.”

Gubi reintroduces the ‘F300’ in polished colourways of ‘Alabaster White’ or ‘Pastel Green’, with a range of upholstery options to suit any interior. Meanwhile, the ‘T877 Table’ – also crafted from HiREK® – comes in additional eye-catching hues of ‘Violet Ice’, ‘Honey Gold’, and ‘Molé’.
Relaunching the ‘F300’ alongside the ‘T877’ (originally released in 1960), felt like a natural decision, says Schmidt. “They were always meant to be in conversation with each other,” she explains. “Reintroducing them together reinforces Pierre Paulin’s vision of a holistic environment – sculptural, elegant, and dynamic. The table echoes the chair’s fluidity while introducing an expressive layer through its versatile colour palette. Together, they create a contemporary lounge setting – one that’s as visually captivating as it is comfortable and functional, equally at home in intimate residential corners or expansive hospitality spaces.”
Gubi’s reissued ‘F300 Lounge Chair’ and ‘T877 Table’ are now available at gubi.com and through selected retailers.
