For its latest Scandinavian moment, Italian shoemakers Giaborghini make a capsule of covetable sandals for H&M

After a slew of Scandinavian collaborations – Pernille Teisbaek, The Garment – Italian shoemakers Giaborghini have received the ultimate Scandi stamp of approval: a capsule collection with H&M. “H&M reached out to us, presenting the opportunity to create a product accessible to a broad audience, which resonated deeply with our ethos,” says Giaborghini founder and designer Barbara Borghini. “As a smaller brand, partnering with H&M on this scale significantly elevates our visibility and outreach.”

Though the capsule opens Giaborghini up to a wider audience, the brand’s design codes and emphasis on Italian craftsmanship are event in every pair (the capsule was manufactured in the brand’s own factories in Italy). “These sandals epitomise Gia’s aesthetic, drawing inspiration from our best-selling styles while infusing them with a fresh twist,” says Borghini. Comprised of three heeled sandals, the capsule is rich with Giaborghini signatures. Take, for instance, the comma-shaped heel or the unmistakable curved wedge. Elsewhere, the upper of the brand’s best-selling Abella is reimagined in a slingback.

Our affinity for Scandinavia is rooted in our shared values of simplicity and sophistication. The Scandinavian style resonates deeply with us.

Rendered in black and red, silver and peach, each shoe begs to be adapted to one’s style, equally at home with relaxed jeans as with a spring-ready cocktail dress. Borghini looks forward to wearing the Harriet, a square-toed sandal with that aforementioned comma heel, in silver. It’s a shoe she sees as a reflection of herself – “understated yet distinctive”. “I envision pairing it with minimalist separates to let the sandals take centre stage, embodying effortless sophistication with a hint of individuality,” she says.

Launching online in select markets (Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Austria, Germany, Netherlands) on 4th April, the capsule is further proof that Giaborghini and Scandinavia are a perfect pair. “Our affinity for Scandinavia is rooted in our shared values of simplicity and sophistication,” says Borghini, adding, “The Scandinavian style resonates deeply with us.”
