"Using a lot of pink was a way to say f*** off": Inside Fanny Ollas' pink porcelain universe

By Vogue Scandinavia's Video Team

In the historic Gustavsberg studio of Swedish sculptor, we unpack the artistic bond she's found between vases and bodies – and how pinks and pastels empower her

For the latest issue of Vogue Scandinavia, we stepped into the wash of pink that is Stockholm-based sculptor Fanny Ollas' world. Seamlessly marrying her hands-on, intuitive approach to ceramics with her background in fashion design, Ollas brings a distinctly anatomical awareness to her practice. “I think my background as a fashion designer makes me think in terms of bodies, and to me, the vase is like a body,” she says.

Captured in her historic Gustavsberg studio – a former porcelain factory just outside Stockholm – Ollas explains that her vessels are not inanimate objects, but “different characters, with multiple layers of meaning.” Each form, curve, and contour nods to the human physique, blurring the boundaries between body and object. Her work, rendered in soothing shades of blush and pastel, explores how emotion and form coexist.
