A simple to make spooky 'Lycheetini' to keep an extra eye on

Although the hype surrounding the latest James Bond movie may have calmed down, the penchant for 007's favourite tipple lives on, an enduring classic. A martini may not be the drink for everyone, but adding a little sweetness from lychee syrup into it will make even the pickiest guests change their mind - and this is a scarily tasty treat that's perfect for Halloween and beyond.

Serves 4

  • 10 oz vodka
  • 3 oz dry vermouth
  • 1 splash lime juice
  • Cubed ice
  • 1 jar of canned lychees in syrup
  • 4 blueberries

  1. Place four Martini glasses in the freezer to chill.
  1. Add the vodka, vermouth, two tablespoons of lychee syrup, lime juice and ice into a cocktail shaker. And just like Mr Bond prefers it, this cocktail should be shaken, not stirred. In other words: shake the ingredients vigorously for around 15 seconds and strain into the chilled Martini glasses.
  1. For the eyeballs, stuff the pitted lychee fruits with blueberries. Place the 'eyeball' on the end of a toothpick and garnish your 'Lycheetini' with it - simple yet scary.
