Second-hand savants, it is time to rejoice, as Stockholm welcomes its newest vintage venue. Stocked with contemporary curations and vintage gems, ERA Second-hand opens in the Swedish capital, ushering in a new age of sustainable shopping. Whether you are selling or buying, ERA welcomes you

Everyone has something languishing at the back of their wardrobe that they no longer wear – that much is fact. Maybe it’s the jeans that fit like a glove when you were 18 (but sadly, no longer), the sequinned skirt ill-suited to Scandinavian weather, or the shirt that’s simply fallen out of favour. These pieces sit in drawers gathering dust, their potential wasted.

Now, thanks to fashion industry alumni Linn af Klint Kansmark and Nathalie Bäckström, that’s all set to change. With more than 30 years of combined experience, the duo has launched ERA Second Hand – a retail concept that fuses digital innovation with style-savvy shopping and a sustainable mindset.

Situated in Stockholm's PK-huset on Hamngatan, the newly-opened store is ushering in a new era for reselling and second-hand shopping in the Swedish capital. Now, fashion aficionados will be able to sell on what they no longer wear, as well as discover the new hero piece for their wardrobe.

"We wanted to create a second-hand experience that feels as natural and visually appealing as stepping into any modern design store," explains af Klint Kansmark. To achieve such a result, the store, which stocks a mixture of vintage and contemporary second-hand, has been carefully curated to feel like a modern multi-brand boutique – with thoughtful aesthetics, clear colour palettes and inspiring styling. "What matters to us isn't a garment's age - but how relevant it is to today's fashion landscape," say the duo. "We love an '80s jacket or an inherited designer bag, as long as it fits within our overall vision."

As with most second-hand stores, displays will never be stagnant. With submissions being made all the time, displays and assortments are updated daily, designed to reflect current colours, silhouettes, and seasonal trends. Items are handpicked with a focus on quality and style, presented in the store's harmonious environment that gives second-hand a second life.

We want to show that second-hand doesn’t have to be a second choice. It can be the first.

Alongside its curated in-store offering, ERA is powered by digital submissions. Through the newly launched app, sellers can send items directly to the store – no heavy bags to haul through central Stockholm. Gone, too, is the hassle of shipping, bidding, and back-and-forth messaging. ERA takes care of everything, from selection and styling to sales. All that’s left to do is sit back, wait for your items to sell, and receive your earnings via Swish or bank transfer with a simple tap. Sellers typically earn 40% of the sale price, with returns rising to 50% for garments over 5,000 SEK and 70% for those above 10,000 SEK.

At the heart of ERA lies a vision rooted in sustainability, a principle shared by many Scandinavian brands. “Enough clothing has already been produced to last for generations,” says Bäckström. “Now it’s about circulating what we already have – without compromising on style or feeling. We want to show that second-hand doesn’t have to be a second choice. It can be the first.”
