Diemonde - SS22

By Eliza Sörman Nilsson

The Swedish label proves modern suiting is about a marriage of street culture and timeless design

Growing up, Togolese-Swedish designer Angelo da Silveira struggled to find a Swedish brand that spoke to him or his friends. From the clothes, to how they were styled, to the people who modelled them. He tells us during a Stockholm Fashion Week studio tour that he couldn’t find the representation he was seeking which is what led to Diemonde. The label, which also took home SFW x Boozt.com New Talent and Innovation Award this season, is a somewhat sartorial love note for those who are attached to several different cultures, not just one.

Since the brand’s inception in 2015, it’s been gifting us a street meets tailoring aesthetic that combines street culture with timeless, minimalist design - and this season is no different. For SS22, all the signatures are back, the jacket, the tracksuit-suit hybrid, the edgy shirt. This time around, however, eye-catching pops of orange, pinstripe and look-at-me prints sit amongst an otherwise muted colour palette. Da Silveira aims to create the modern suit, and with these polished yet comfy pieces his mission may just be accomplished.
