Vivid colours and slinky silhouettes dominated the runway for Designers Remix's Spring/Summer 2022 collection
One doesn’t always equate sex appeal with upcycling, but at today’s Designers Remix presentation, the two went hand and hand. Using the vivid colours of David Hockney paintings as a starting point, creative director Charlotte Eskildsen revelled in slinky 1990s silhouettes that would have looked right at home on Carrie Bradshaw (on the original Sex and the City, not the reboot).
Presented on a rooftop basketball court — attendees sitting on the bleachers — models sported bare midriffs, blouses that draped off the body and, yes, exposed thongs.
Added to the mix was a fresh re-made concept, in which discarded and secondhand garments are given a second life. At Designers Remix, everything old is new again, even 1989’s party anthem Pump up the Jam, which closed the show.
