Showing at New York Fashion Week, COS loosened up its signature minimalism for Autumn/Winter '26, pairing beautifully controlled tailoring with tactile fabrics, languid silhouettes and flashes of rich purple
For a brand so synonymous with minimalism, there is something satisfying about watching COS push at the edges of its restraint. For autumn/winter '26, shown inside the WSA building in New York's Financial District, the London-based label took its familiar language of clean lines and precise tailoring and allowed things to become a little softer, richer, and, occasionally, more decadent. The starting points were corporate modernism and 1920s glamour – an unlikely pairing on paper, perhaps, but one that made considerable sense on the runway.
The colour palette certainly meant business at first. Cool greys, black, and navy dominated, joined by softer browns and pale neutrals that kept everything feeling suitably autumnal. Then, amidst all that restraint, came a delicious shot of rich purple. It was a small, yet clever, disruption, saturated enough to wake up the whole collection without disturbing its overall sense of calm.
