Actors Coco Rebecca Edogamhe and Mattia Carrano weigh on Zalando's new co-designed, Italian-made collection with Aspesi

Alessandro Blasetti, Michelangelo Antonioni, Mauro Bolognini. It could be the billings for the latest classic Italian film festival in your area. Instead, the directors and filmmakers are the star names of Zalando's latest limited-edition capsule: 'Cinema Club'. Teaming up with Italian heritage brand Aspesi, the online fashion and lifestyle destination has unveiled a 16-piece utilitarian capsule celebrating the greats of Italian cinema's 'Golden Age'.

So, who else to cast for the campaign than Italy's most exciting acting talent? 22-year-old Coco Rebecca Edogamhe (best known for her role in Netflix's Summertime) alongside 23-year-old Mattia Carrano (the star of series Prisma) bring to life the genderless nylon and cotton pieces – emblazoned with seven iconic scenes from Italy's 20th century cinema masterpieces – in the roles of actor versus film director.

For Carrano, wearing the co-designed capsule is “just like getting into a movie”, with the young actor describing the collaboration as a “kiss between fashion and cinema”. Meanwhile, Edogamhe pinpoints the mix of “comfort and cinema”. “I thought it was a really cool idea,” she goes on, "to make nylon garments, so versatile, with these beautiful images of Italian cinema.”

The pair, who refer to each other as 'besties' and describe having “great chemistry on set”, joined Zalando, Aspesi and the style set in Milan Fashion Week for the unveiling of the collection. Making an appearance at the 'Cinema Club' launch party a stone's throw from Piazza Cordusio, the actors and other guests from the fashion and cinema industries donned pieces from the capsule, with the boxy printed shirts and T-shirts, covetable bomber jacket and cargo trousers spotted throughout the venue.

According to Carlos Pellegrini, vice president of marketing and sales at Aspesi, the partnership with Zalando is about a “joint vision” in celebrating the Italian's brand's DNA rooted in art. "The creative concept draws inspiration from a collaborative journey with Zalando, fusing creativity and design to co-create a collection that reflects the essence of Italian culture,” Pellegrini says. “Together, we're shaping a fashion narrative that celebrates the joy of innovation and the thrill of timeless expression with a contemporary take.”

Zalando's director of designer and luxury, Lena Sophie-Roeper, reiterates this sentiment. “Working with Aspesi, we wanted to bring them more than just fashion and connect through a unique cultural story and fashion experience unveiled onsite and celebrated during fashion week. This partnership is an excellent example of how we can collaborate with designers and iconic luxury brands in a meaningful way,” she explains.

For Edogamhe and Mattia Carrano, the capsule has them thinking of their own personal go-to film picks. Edogamhe's all-time favourite? “Probably Girl, Interrupted,“ she responds, while Carrano calls out Otto e Mezzo by Federico Fellini, or Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction – the original cause for him to “fall in love with the cinema.”
