With their matching Loewe moment, we're ranking Challengers' Josh O'Connor and Mike Faist in our top couple moments from the Met Gala 2024

Okay, so Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist aren’t technically a couple. But in the eyes of pop culture, they are: ever since Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers premiered in theatres, moviegoers and TikTokers have been fascinated with the tennis-and-tension-filled relationship between O’Connor’s Patrick and Faist’s Art. (There’s a churros scene that seems like a permanent fixture on the ‘For You’ page.) So perhaps it’s fitting that for the 2024 Met Gala, the two actors arrived together at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Both wore custom Loewe. O’Connor’s suit had an avant-garde tail train, serving as a nod to the exaggerated tailoring seen in the brand’s fall 2024 runway collection. He paired it with a bow tie brooch from the Loewe x Lynda Benglis collection, as well as hand-beaded Campo Biker booters. The shoes, meanwhile, were accented with floral motifs—a nod to the evening’s dress code of ‘The Garden of Time’.

Faist, meanwhile, pinned a radish brooch embroidered with pearls to his lapel, which also took its cues from the vegetable garden prints found in Loewe’s autumn/winter '24 collection. It’s a fitting red carpet appearance for both, given the creative director of Loewe, Jonathan Anderson, designed the costumes for the zeitgest-y film. And true fans of O’Connor and Faist will also remember them sitting side by side at the Loewe menswear show in Paris back in February – clearly, their matching Loewe moment at tonight’s Met Gala was meant to be.
