For spring/summer ’27, Cecilie Bahnsen’s dresses got a day job. Denim, washed workwear, and easy new silhouettes brought her signature romance firmly into the everyday – because, apparently, there was no need to save the good stuff for best
We all have that one dress whose pole position is at the back of the wardrobe, waiting for the ‘right’ occasion. And there has always been a temptation for Cecilie Bahnsen to be that dress, saved for best. The Danish designer’s puffed proportions, intricate embroidery and wonderfully romantic gowns practically beg for an occasion – or, at the very least, somewhere nicer than the supermarket. For spring/summer ’27, Bahnsen had other ideas. The good dress was getting out of the wardrobe.
Titled Any Given Day, the collection was built around a simple proposition: clothes for an entire day, rather than a singular moment. “I wanted to make the whole wardrobe this time,” Bahnsen explained. “Clothes for eight in the morning and eight at night.” Thirty looks duly filled the hours between, moving through Italian denim, washed workwear, liquid silk, nightwear and, naturally, plenty of intricate embroidery.
This was very much Cecilie Bahnsen, just with the volume lowered – quite literally. Silhouettes were slimmer and longer, sitting closer to the body as familiar proportions were pulled in, dropped or occasionally interrupted altogether. Dresses fell with newfound ease; liquid silk skimmed rather than billowed. If previous seasons had floated, SS27 had places to be.
