Unveiled during Paris Couture Week at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Cartier’s third chapter of En Équilibre brought together high jewellery, living tableaux and performance for an evening devoted to harmony and balance

Now that the dust has settled on a whirlwind of fashion moments – Copenhagen running full pelt alongside Paris – we’re taking a moment of pause to look back at one of Couture Week’s most spellbinding nights. In the thick of it all, Cartier unveiled the third chapter of its High Jewellery collection, En Équilibre, inside the storied halls of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, a setting as rich in history as the jewels themselves.

Choosing the museum’s Pavillon Marsan felt instinctive. A beacon of French craftsmanship and design, it offered the perfect counterpoint to a collection devoted to harmony: purity of line, the strength of volume, and chromatic balance. Guests entered through the museum’s grand main doors and were gently guided inward towards a cocktail reception in the Pavillon Marsan – among them being glamorous Hollywood heavyweights Gemma Chan, Tara Emad and Virginie Efira.

Inside the 1900 Salon, the Art Nouveau interiors designed by Georges Hoentschel provided a sumptuous backdrop. Originally created for the Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs’ pavilion at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, the space was transformed into a series of living tableaux, with models moving through the room to unveil the collection’s jewels in motion.

Shortly before dinner, the doors of the Salon des Boiseries opened to reveal exceptional 17th- and 18th-century panelling, enhanced by the soft evening light of the Parisian sky. In a setting mirroring the spirit of the collection, where movement meets geometric form, guests discovered the cuisine of Michelin-starred chef Shinichi Sato. Translating the themes of En Equilibre into flavour, he presented dishes conceived around balance of colour, interplay of volume and rhythm.

The evening concluded with a performance by composer and pianist Koki Nakano alongside dancer and choreographer Amala Dianor, a suspended moment charged with energy and emotion. Following this immersive experience, guests were invited to enter the Nef and wander through one of the capital’s most remarkable spaces, distinguished by its sculpted stone décor, mosaic floor adorned with floral scrolls and spectacular volumes.
