It takes a village to raise a child – and Bugaboo's new Donkey 6 understands

Designed for togetherness, the Bugaboo Donkey 6 adapts as families grow – supporting siblings, twins and the wider village around them from day one

Parenting has never been a solo pursuit. Today, the “village” might look different – a constellation of co-parents, grandparents, siblings, neighbours, friends and chosen family – but its role remains the same: to share the journey. With the launch of the Bugaboo Donkey 6, the Dutch design brand reimagines its original side-by-side stroller for this new reality, placing connection at the centre of everyday mobility.

15 years after the debut of the first Donkey, this next-generation model refines the concept that made it iconic: a convertible stroller that evolves as families do. Designed to move seamlessly from single to double in just three clicks, the Donkey 6 adapts from first child to siblings (or twins from day one) without compromising comfort, manoeuvrability or style.

At its core, the Donkey 6 is about flexibility. For first-time parents, it functions as a spacious single stroller with generous storage and intuitive steering. As families grow, it expands into a side-by-side sibling configuration, keeping children at the same height so they can share the experience of discovering the world together.

For twins, two bassinets sit side by side from the very beginning – a design choice that supports early bonding while maintaining the smooth handling Bugaboo is known for.

Subtle engineering upgrades make the Donkey 6 feel considered at every touchpoint. An all-season bassinet lined with soft organic cotton and integrated breezy panels ensures year-round comfort, while extra-large puncture-proof wheels glide across city streets, gravel paths or snow with equal ease. One-handed steering keeps navigation effortless, even on busy days with full hands.

Storage has also been expanded: the underseat basket now holds up to 15 kg – 50 percent more than previous versions – and the redesigned side luggage basket doubles as a changing bag, keeping essentials within reach. Together, these details reflect a stroller designed for real family rhythms.

Alongside functionality, Bugaboo continues to push forward its sustainability ambitions. The Donkey 6 achieves 17 per cent lower CO₂ emissions than earlier models, thanks to innovations including recycled fabrics, bio-based materials, water-free dyeing techniques and recycled aluminium components.

It’s part of a broader philosophy the brand has refined over more than two decades: designing products that last, adapt and remain relevant across multiple stages of family life.

If earlier generations of strollers centred primarily on parent-child interaction, the Donkey 6 widens the frame. Its side-by-side configuration reflects a more collective understanding of caregiving: one that recognises siblings, friends and extended support networks as part of a child’s daily world.

Because raising children unfolds across households, friendships and communities — sometimes messy, often magical, always shared. As the Donkey 6 proves, there’s one thing Bugaboo understands after 25 years of shaping how families move: the only thing better than raising a child is getting to do it together.
